In this theoretical Minecraft mod, you are besieged by monsters as usual. However, the idea behind the mod is that you have a means to put an end to the rampaging monster hordes.
Each type of vanilla monster would have a source, so to speak. When the player locates the source and eliminates it, then that type of monster will no longer spawn. It would work much the way that strongholds and the ender dragon work – the unique source would spawn somewhere in the world and the player needs to locate it and destroy it.
Eliminate the Endermen Invasion
The means to end invasions by Endermen is already built into vanilla Minecraft. You have to slay the ender dragon and close the portal to the end. Once the dragon is slain, you will no longer see Endermen spawning in the world.
Stop the Zombie Hoards
Zombies are humans who have been infected by a contaminated water source. You need to build a water tester that can be used on water sources. When near the source of the contamination, the tester will register contaminants. The closet you get, the stronger they will register. Locate the source (be it a green water flow or dungeon or whatnot) and destroy/stop it. No more zombies spawn.
Stop the Skeletons
Some hokey tablet thing exists in a pyramid ruin somewhere in the desert. Destroy this tablet and skeletons will stop spawning, as will skeleton jockeys.
Stop the Spiders
Find the spider queen and kill it. No more spiders. Scary spider web cavern thing happening here.
Stop the creepers
Find the crashed alien space ship and turn off its power source!
So on, so forth…
End result, I have a happy town of MCA villagers that isn’t being slaughtered by everything in sight. And they all love me because I saved them all.
The reason for this mod is that it gives you an objective besides just building and it gives you something meaningful to search for while exploring. Also, killing the ender dragon actually has a reason behind it. I’ve never actually killed the ender dragon since the ender dragon never actually bothered me so I never saw the need to kill it. Seemed kind of uncalled for, you know… If he was trying to ruin my village, that would be another story.
1. Multiplayer: if one player has stopped monsters from spawning, no one would be able to get them back. Also not every player would have the chance to achieve those goals if there's only one of each structure.
2. There can only be one: One single structure in a minecraft world is just a pain to find, it's not fun at all if you've built your house and just realize that the structure you need is about 100.000 blocks away.
3. (see 2nd): there needs to be more than one structure per world and players need a way to find them, like ender-eyes for vanilla strongholds (you don't want to mine almost every single block of stone in the whole world just for finding a dungeon).

The idea is great but there are some problems:
