Ok, so the redstone we see today isn't perfect and could likely be improved in a variety of ways. So I made some.
First let me introduce you to whitestone.
Whitestone: This stuff takes the place of redstone in that it completely replaces redstone ore in the world. There is no more redstone, just whitestone. It's completely neutral and only gives off a signal of 1 when put into block form. In dust form it can only be used as a conductor allowing different colors to react with one another, so red stone will go through white and give off a signal picked up by white-stone. Also comes in repeater form with the same purpose. It does not have a torch form or comparator form. Oddly enough white stone does not break underwater either.
White stone can be mixed with dye to get different colors as well:
Redstone: The basic stone, it has all the same properties as before. Note: This is the only stone that can interact with tripwires, trapped chest, daylight sensors, and anything else that SENDS a redstone signal. However, all normal stones can interact with things that RECEIVE redstone signal.
Orange stone: Heat orientated, leading one of these into a furnace or brewing stand will power it and cook whats inside. Blocks of this stuff will send up towers of fire in a vertical pattern. Repeaters have no special purpose other then to continue the signal. Torches as well. Dust will actually be hot to walk on doing minor damage and occasionally will set fire to mobs that walk on it. Comparators have a unique use that they work more like fire-charges, place one down and give it a charge more then or equal to 4 and it will create fire in front of it, change that to less then 4 and it will put the fire out, useful in controlling netherportals.
Yellow stone: Illumination: Creatures that walk on the dust or repeaters will be given a glowing enchantment for a few seconds. Torches give off more light then a normal torch. If you run the current through a comparator, then have that current lead into a block of yellowstone the amount of charge will change the brightness of the light.
Green stone: Sticky: The main point of this stone is that it can run up walls, and across ceilings as can it's repeaters and comparators. Torches can be put on the bottoms of blocks. It's blocks also have a unique function. If for instance, you suspend a greenstone block and power it, a gravity-block, like gravel, will not fall if it's touching it. Remove the redstone charge leading into it, and the gravel and any gravel on top of it will fall however.
Blue stone: Water: As you can guess, placing this dust/repeater/comparator/torch in water will not break the current or the redstone. It's blocks have a unique ability to which above water it gives off no charge, but in water, it does. Note: lava and molten liquids will still break this stone.
Purple stone: Length: There is no dust for this form, or repeaters, or torches. Instead this stone can be used in place of red-stone to create long-pistons and long sticky-pistons. Long pistons work by using a purple comparator. If you lead a comparator into a long piston and it has a charge of 1, it will push whatever blocks in front of it (max 12) 1 space. But if you give it a power of 8, it will push the block 8 spaces up. It can reach a max charge of a 12 charge on this type of block. It's block form can be turned on and off with any stone's signal. It's comparators are also usable in water, but isn't ideal for proper underwater building, as it doesn't have a dust, torch or repeater form.
Pink stone: Item transportation. Effectively pipes. Dust is essentially the pipe. Note, due to it's unique properties, this stone can not interact with other stones, even with the use of white stone. To ascend vertically you can either build stairs up, or use blocks. Blocks work like dust but can be stacked vertically to continue the signal. The stone has infinite length so repeaters are not needed for their normal use. Instead a repeater can be put in front of the chest or item-containing block, and set to a specific number. Torches have a unique ability, that any item sent to them will be teleported to the torch of a matching number elsewhere in the world. Only two torches can share the same number anywhere in the world. Comparators serve the opposite function of repeaters, that putting one in front of a receiving chest or item-containing block allows items in the current to be put back into the chest it's attached to. It has a number feature as well and a comparator can only share 1 number in each world. For instance, you can have multiple repeaters taking blocks from multiple chests, but you can only have one comparator location to send those items. If there is no receiving location, the repeater will not take any items out of the chests, transference is instant.
There's also another feature to comparators and is the only way to have two comparators with the same number. By using the GUI attached to the comparator, you can filter out items that you don't want going into that chest. So any items that won't fit that bill would go into the other chest without that filter. Note: An item with the possible ability to transfer into more then one chest simply will not transfer. It has to have a specific destination, or it will not be pulled in from the repeater.
It's super useful to use these to control what music disc plays when you want it to.
Brown stone: Growth: Attach brown stone to your saplings or plant life, then attach them to a brownstone block. Note: much like pinkstone, brown stone can not be interacted with by other stone colors, even white. Brownstone blocks can be fed organic material like a furnace: Bones, Flesh, meats, even coal, to produce brownstone signal. That brownstone can be used to slowly increase the growth of the plants nearby simply by having a brownstone dust trail to them (max of 10 blocks). Should a crop reach it's full potential, a brownstone comparator can be used to read that the plant is full grown and will cause a corresponding brownstone torch to glow. Effectively you could use this to tell when your crops are full grown. The repeater has no use.
Greystone dust: Invisible: Greystone dust has the same properties of regular redstone, but can only be seen by someone wearing grey-goggles (Crafted with grey window panes and some sticks) effectively this makes redstone invisible and invincible to anyone not wearing the glasses. Blocks of this stuff work like the dust, but take the form of the block above it, so it can be run through walls. Repeaters and comparators serve their usual functions, but again, can not be seen without goggles.
Black stone: Connection: Works a bit like redstone, but it's meant to be used in a remote like fashion. Blackstone dust works the same as redstone. Blackstone repeaters as well. Blackstone blocks are different. When you craft a blackstone block, you can open it and take out the "remote" inside. This remote is unique and will only respond to this block. If you lose the remote, you can simply open the blackstone block again, and it will summon the remote back to the inventory of that chest. Using the remote allows one to toggle if the blackstone block is emitting no, or an 8 power signal. For button-like uses of the remote, simply right click instead of left. Torches serve a similar function to pinkstone in that they can receive a signal from anywhere that's broadcasting their number. Comparators are used as the broadcaster, so that if you send a 5 power signal into a comparator marked "1" then any torch marked "1" will emit a 5 power signal.
Well I don't see it being OP exactly, the greatest advantage it has is the teleport items thing and the fire thing. Both of which arn't that impressive. But thank you for the feedback!

So what do you guys think? Cool idea or no?
Time-travel mod request! (It's long over-due and would be fantastic!)
