Hi there! I was wondering if there was a mod out there (preferably stand-alone) that'll help in building blocks in lines or in rectangles, similar to how worldedit works, but in survival.
For instance, you could use a tool to mark out a line or area, and then by using a block on it, it'll automatically place the blocks on that line from your inventory, to help speed up building floors or walls.
or anything like that, as long as it allows you to mark an area and then place blocks within it.
Mmmm, close, but no cigar. Perhaps someone could make the mod for me? I'm not much of a coder, but I am an artist, so there's that... (I know, not much help there.)
I drew a quick diagram of my idea. excuse the crudeness and my terrible perspective
basically, you would use the wand to click on a block as if you were placing it, but it would produce a temporary block that would visualize where the blocks will be placed. a second click on another block will create the next "point" and will fill in the blocks between it (see the purple filler). switch to a block that you have and click on any of the temporary blocks and they'll automatically be replaced by whatever block you have in your hand.
i feel like this would be a great way to build walls, bridges, and the like quickly and not-cheaty in survival, because it's just so annoying to keep clicking to place blocks in a line and building walls can become tedious very quickly, especially if you're planning a bigger project. it would be simple and easy to use, no need for blueprints or prior setting up beforehand.
Didn't want to spam the post with a huge quote post but I must say, that diagram you drew is exquisite!
thank you! c: I just hope a mod maker will see this and hopefully make something like this. I'm honestly surprised no one has come up with this idea before! it seems so simple and helpful.
Reminds me of one of the first versions of MC public, where you could type in a command and spawn blocks into a zone.
And this reminds me of my little fiddling with MinecraftPi. So fun...great way for people to learn simple Python coding. Or WorldEdit with the in-game structure creation (Loved that wand aka: Wooden Axe).

It's an interesting thought. I was looking to maybe get back into modding myself. Although I've never been one for the "super magical building" idea (I always felt it was a tad bit overzealous and far fetched for use in a cheat-free single player world) maybe it would be good implementation to use this idea with maybe block placing mobs?

I wasn't really going for much of a cheaty kinda thing, just something to speed things up, thus why it would require blocks from your inventory. ideally, it can't be used to break blocks, just to place them. it's up to the modder what they want to do if the player doesn't have enough of the required blocks to fill the area set by the mod.
