Hi there! I was looking around today for a certain mod that never ended up existing, and i believe it could be of great use to some modpacks and such.
So, in vanilla minecraft there is a "tier" rarity system that applies to rather rare items https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Rarity (see this link for info) and i was thinking if it could be possible to add more tiers to the game. So you can think of it like this - a diamond sword will have a higher rarity tier than an iron sword, and the diamond sword will have a more eye-catching rarity tier. A game that implements this VERY well would be terraria, and you can see the tiers of rarity here https://terraria.gamepedia.com/Rarity
Very simple mod, and if anyone here adopts this idea, i would be very greatful!
I think it's an alright idea. But when it comes to mods most want to not manipulate Vanilla too much and just leave it as a baseline, which is why they add their own tiers/rarity considerations to tools, armour, weapons, ores, mob drops, crops, structure loot and so on (in other cases recipe blueprints even).
I know 1.13 and 1.14 with datapacks (Blueprints https://www.planetminecraft.com/data-pack/blueprints-require-recipe-to-craft-item/, changes the recipes to be found in structure loot tables) and mods (like Weapon Craftery https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/weapon-craftery with leveling/rarity or other mods like Tinkers/other tool mods that don't tweak Vanilla too much but do their own thing instead) there is a few that are doing level systems and rarity in I think the same way to what your looking for, but otherwise I haven't dived deep enough into 1.12.2 (even in the niche side of modding a lot) to be sure if one exists, and mod devs do other things in 1.12.2 or are porting to 1.14/creating new mods for 1.14 so I don't know if it will be seen in 1.12.2 likely but that's just my guess (I look between 1.7.10 to 1.14.4 but mostly 1.14 so I might come across one in 1.12.2 if one isn't created by someone that sees this thread).
But either way I'd like to see how this turns out if someone picks it up.
