I made a device that allows you to send multiple on off states through a single wire. I don't know if it has been made before, (couldn't find it in the forums) but has probably been made better. If you know where a link to a better one is, or just tips on how to improve this one please post.
I made something like this that sends an 8 bit signal through a signal wire then decodes it and saves it to 8 d flip flops for display, I don't have an account on a photo sharing site or i'd show you. the way mine works is it sends a three long signal then all other signals are sent with a break in between them. The way my decoder works is it sends the signal through a line of repeaters leading to d flip flops every 2, at the end of the line i have a three way and gate that looks for 3 ons straight (sent by the button) and then i signals all the dflip flops to save, it lines up perfectly so that you get the signal decoded the same way it was entered in.
Atleast i think this is what you made also (my volume is broken on my computer sorry if it's something else). Also if your transmitting redstone long distances make sure you put a block after each repeater to extend the signal by one extra.
If I get good reviews I will definitely make a tutorial, especially if no one gets a link to a better model.
