Oh man, what wouldn't I give for a resistor element (that works like a repeater but subtracts a fixed redstone strength instead of boosting it to 15)...
So, I need to subtract 12 from a redstone signal. Is there a clever way to generate a redstone signal of a fixed strength in survival? Obviously I can use a torch or redstone block and a redstone line of length 4 feeding into a comparator, but this is a no-go in a compact build. I can also use a container and read it with a comparator, which works perfectly up to signal strength 8 using a composter. But the options for higher signal strengths aren't that good, I guess a furnace is the best option (which is a pain because has to burn some items to achieve strengths over 10). Hoppers create lag and can't be build anywhere, so the next best option would be to use a dropper with 7+ stacks of dummy items in it. Anything I'm missing?
According to the wiki, you can use a bunch of objects with a comparator to obtain 12 strenght [Source: https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Redstone_Comparator]
Among them:
A Jukebox with the disc 12
A chest or other container with 21 stacks and 14 objects
A dropper/dispenser with 7 stacks and 5 object
You could replaces full stacks with unstackable objects (wooden showels?)
