What do you like least about the new 1.7 snapshots? I really like most of the new biomes, but some of the new features are pretty bad. For example, the new particle effects are quite annoying. Also, I used to like how it was a while before you could get melons easily when they were only found (in seed form) in chests, but now they spawn in jungles. Some of these new features really take away from my minecraft experience. What is you least favorite new addition to minecraft?

I honestly don't think there is one I dislike. There are things like the new commands that I will never use, but I don't really dislike anything.
As for the particle effects, unless you are always staring straight down when you jump (unless there are more than just the falling one that I am not aware of), I don't think they are an issue. If they are they can be disabled.
As for the Melons, they aren't THAT much easier to get. They are found in 1 out of the 36 total biomes in 1.7 so far. If all biomes appeared equally, that would make Jungle Edge account for only 2.7% of the total world. But the Jungle Edge is only a few chunks thick at maximum, so I would estimate they take up less than 0.1% of the total world. That is still much rarer than natural Pumpkins, and also rarer than where you can find Melon Seeds naturally. So... not really a big deal for me.

Jungles are also now rarer so finding natural melons is like finding natural pumpkins: a lucky surprise
I actually find Pumpkins rather commonly. But finding Melons naturally in Jungles is certainly something I like. It bugged me due to both unrealism and inconsistency that Pumpkins can be found on the surface but not Melons. Now all I want is stems growing from naturally found Pumpkins or Melons.
I honestly cannot complain about anything mainly because these are only the first few snapshots. I'll see what everything is like when the actual update comes out.
And I for one think that turning extreme hills into mountains is the best thing about the update. The updates are not objectively good or bad, they appear pleasing or unpleasing to the players. And I am hugely on the 'pleasing' bandwagon.
I'd rather have melons in jungle biomes than the complete waste of time (and frame rate) that is the cocoa beans. They're about as useless as squids and ink sacks and look ridiculous growing and looking like lanterns on the sides of jungle trees. Keep cocoa beans in rare dungeon chests; I never liked that addition to jungle biomes.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the new update, I'm actually pretty excited about it, it's like another 1.8. It also seems like they've brought back the 1.7 terrain which is something that a lot of players wanted, the only difference is there's biomes. With all the new changes, they've pretty much fixed all of the problems people are talking about. There's less oceans, more diversity, more biomes in general, no more taigas next to deserts, flowers, better beaches, fixed lighting glitches, and now you don't need to go through a mineshaft all for melons.
No real qualms, assuming they are still working out the kinks in land generation. I love the biomes so far.
Yeah, they always seem to take our rare items out of dungeon chests, and make them too easy to get. I like to have a mission every once and a while, but it's not like melon seeds were even slightly rare....They did the same thing with cocoa beans a ways back, and they are basically useless! At least melons are needed for potions and what not.
For me, it's outweighed by the lovely aesthetics melons in the jungle outskirts create.
I can't be the only one who thinks this is a horrifying mess. I much preferred the steps they were taking towards a more balanced generation for continents and oceans.
Just in terms of aesthetics, I'm OK with having a vast ocean to explore in the hopes of finding some bold, uncharted new land beyond it. But this? They're not oceans; they're ponds.

Land is supposed to look like a "horrifying mess" and those oceans are a little bit bigger than ponds.
This. RPG procedurally generated worlds just never look right if the water doesn't take up at least 60% of the surface area.
Everything else is wonderful though. (I can hardly wait to see the biome chunk discrepancies when 1.7 alters my world I'm currently playing-- that will be six kinds of awesome.)
Overall, my opnion is much more positive than negative, so I don't think they're bad, but here are the two notable things I'm not fond of.
The change regarding the large oceans being taken away and turned into "glorified lakes", as some others have mentioned, takes away some of the sense of exploring. I understand that many would dislike spending the time traveling a couple thousand or tens of thousands of blocks of oceans, and I generally would too, but things went from one extreme to too far of another. The oceans seperating land into continents gave a sense of whereby going to a new one felt far more like a new land. To me, now, it feels less so, but the second thing that bothers me may be a large part of why it feels this way to me too. Speaking of which...
This is just my experience so far, but the worlds generally seem to be mostly repetitive forest/plains/extreme hills. In my many worlds I've started, I've found one group of warm climate biomes, and one very small set of cold ones. I feel worlds are about to become so very monotonous, which is odd when the number of biomes went up. For those who suggest to "explore", the thing is, I do (and this just makes the monotony much more apparent anyway with the current ratios)! I'm not expecting some of everything within a small radius here, but in practice, I've found the current disparity to be way too extreme and lends to far too monotonous worlds.
The other things are minor, or more of "they could take this oppurtunity further and do this" rather than things I dislike.
I like most of the other things, and again, it's more of a positive update than a negative one, but these two things, especially the latter, could use some adjusting in my opinion.

I feel like most people complain about the new smaller oceans because of some hold-out for ocean content; which I personally don't think we will ever get.
I love the new terrain generation. I love it so much that in my SSP world I packed up a few valuables into a donkey, then used MCedit to reset my entire world. After that I rode my donkey while leading my horse for a few thousand blocks in hard mode until I found a village in a savanna. It was a blast; and I saw almost all of the new biomes except the mega taiga...
