updated to 1.5 only to find my character spawn in a new world seed and area with no inventory. i have no idea what happened nor how to go back to my world seed...i do have the seed number recorded but don't know how to switch back. I have searched for hours looking for email support from minecraft and mojang.....to no avail and am rather frustrated....any help would be appreciated and most welcome at this time, thanks, scoredawg
problem solved....woohoo....thanks for the help....ends up when i downloaded the new minecraft server, i put it in a different area from my multiplayer folder and thus it created the new seed and character....i put the server file back in the folder and all is right in the minecraft world for now....

Did you own your Minecraft account? Assuming you do: Did you convert it into a Mojang account?
I you do not own it, or you converted it, you may be having a problem with the save file thinking you are a different player, thus you can not access your inventory.
Are you entirely certain this is a new world/seed, not just a different area in your same world? Because unless you edited the save files, it should not be changed.

That would do it, you hadn't mentioned you were running a server.

The bin dose not contain save games or player data.
