Do you think minecraft is going down hill as far as the new snapshot such as nehter quartz and hoppers, I think its going off track of how minecraft is supposed to be!
Here I was thinking 1.5 may be one of the better updates. I certianly don't think it's getting worse. These additions, if you so choose, can be easily ignored.
No, I don't think it's getting worse and I don't have to give an explanation. Do you know why I don't have to give an explanation? It's because this is probably one the many times I've seen this thread popping out for

I do think that Mojang, more specifically Notch(before he let Jeb and Dinnerbone continue updating the game), Jeb and Dinnerbone, do make some questionable decisions. But they do it with the Minecraft community in mind; with their game in mind.
No developer in their right mind would make their game worse, that must be the most absurd thing I've ever heard (there's WarZ, but that's a different story). However, developers are still human after all. So if you REALLY do think that they are making some bad decisions that could possibly reduce the quality of their game, at least tell them nicely instead of being lamenting how the game is getting worse and Jeb and Dinnerbone are not doing their job.
They are humans, not emotionless robots. Show them some respect and love. Really. That being said, I respect you guys (Jeb and Dinnerbone) for giving us some awesome updates (even bug fixes, which are probably the most boring task for a developer) for free even after the game is done. Thumbs up for you guys.
It peaked at 1.7.3, from then on it has been feeling like everything else is extra.
(not sure if double post)
Amen to that.

Blessings in Minecraft usually come in the from of creepers behind the nearest door. Rest assured, I was not behind that. No, seriously, I won't open any doors on that. Pun intended.
Minecraft is developing. It's a game with a lifespan, something that we all have. One day it was born, someday it will die. For now, it is alive.
We were all kids once, not too well educated, nor logical, reasonable thinkers. Minecraft was sort of like that, it was in a state known as Beta. It was a good game, but it was very simple... sort of like how we were as kids. Alive and developing, but not complicated in the least.
However, we all have (or will someday have) reached a point where we're no longer kids, but teens, beginning to really get a grasp on the life that we were blessed to have as we finish our development. Minecraft became a 'teen' when it was released, and now it's beginning to get a grasp on what it is, what it's capable of, and where it will go. Eventually it'll reach a point where it will no longer develop, but sit in a state of vanilla stasis. There will be modders taking the game and doing their own things with it (maybe this can be symbolic with a human having different careers in his lifetime). But eventually, the game itself will die. It will be remembered, but there will be little to no people playing it at some point.
That's how I see the game. Right now, it's at the point where it's in its early teenhood. It has passed the point where it's a simple concept, and now it's becoming a fully fleshed out game that can have many different possibilities being done with it.
Minecraft might be getting worse for you, since you liked Minecraft when it was a 'kid'. We all wish we were a kid once again, having everything simple... but we must realize that being a kid was merely a stage in development. If we stayed as children forever, we'd have nothing to become of ourselves.
Likewise, Minecraft would have nothing to become of it if it just stayed as it was back in the days of Beta. We must develop if we want to reach our fullest potential. That, my friends, is the case with Minecraft.
I personally agree. It is really starting to lose the frontier feel. It feels like the game is going thru an industrial revolution of sorts. All the redstone gadgets will automate everything and if the redstone can't, I am sure there is a mod that can. I would like to see the next "focused" update try to bring back some the "roughing" it feel the game is losing. Just my personal opinion of course.
It has definitely changed since the beginning and is becoming more and more technological now.
I like how ores are in the Nether now, but it seems some of the Redstone devices are becoming too advanced for this type of game. =\
There is no "minecraft is supposed to be", this is a sandbox, it's supposed to be whatever you want it to be. There is no other game genre as free as sandbox.
The 1.5 snapshots are looking incredible.
