Light box! ~Using new work in progress block for something different!
Well, so today I was fooling around with the snapshot. I thought, well that's pretty cool. I made a pyramid of diamond blocks, plonking a new Work in Progress block. It wasn't the potion effects that I liked. It was the light. The first thought that came to my head was: I know what I am doing now! So I made this thing I like to call the suspended animation chamber. (Obviously, it doesn't really work. But it is kinda cool, I don't actually have a lot of ideas for it.)
(Please note this is my first time posting a video on the new forums interface. I'm sorry you can't just play it from here.)
I had some ideas for adventure maps and whatnot, but I feel the people of the forums would have better ones than I. So, if you could, please share your thoughts on this.
I forsee interesting light shows that form patterns with this. Did you perceive noticeable lag when triggering that?
The only lag came from the pistons. The light, surprisingly, didn't tax me at all! I like how it shoots up as well, a visible movement of light.
Edit: A good thing to note is that it takes a couple seconds for the WIP block to recognize it can light up, and a couple seconds to recognize that it can't light up anymore.
xD Well, that escalated quickly! I was considering, actually, quite a few adventure map ideas and I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas? Also I doubt it's a good idea to blind all powerful deity's...
make one of those then jump in it wait 5 seconds with a white glow forming around u. you slowely start to rise and it gets faster and faster then u come plumiting down when u are at like Y: 500 and land on a 10x10x10 glowstone blox not hollow and make a small crater in it. it could be used for a skyworld or a new world who likes this idea.
I just thought of a cool idea for the beacon block. I noticed that there is a point during the day when the sun is in the direct path of the beam, and there is a point during the night when the same thing happens to the moon. Perhaps, if you stood in the beam when either of these events happened, you would be teleported to a special place? A la Super Mario 64? Better than another portal, in my opinion...

I like the idea of the a zenith influenced portal. That would make you only be able to use it twice a day. I can only think of the infinite places you could go....

Mind = Blown. This would be kick ass. Furthermore,. two places.. one for the sun phase and another for the moon's.
I hope someone makes a mod for this thing that allows horizontal placement. Would be BA in adventure maps as a "pointer" of sorts. Then combine that with the sun somehow and - viola! - Indiana Jones Staff Headpiece Thingy showing the way to a hidden city.

So, I made a video.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
Basically, looking out, its very very white. I have some screen shots.
That's looking through it. Water retains color. Have not tested lava.
This is from standing inside, you can see the Work in Progress blocks, as well as a river and a rather white desert.
This was taken when all I had was WIP blocks for the perimeter, when it is all filled in and you look up all you see is white and a little speck.

UFO abduction ray? *Okay I'm coining that idea, nobody gets to make a UFO adventure map but me, YOU HEAR ME*

I don't know who you are or where you live, but I will find you, and I will shoot you with a space laser until you hand over that patent.

It, is on. (Oh, and you are missing a comma )
Ah, perhaps, in that case, they would make a different block, with the same light feature? ONe would have to take that up with Jeb/Dinnerbone.
Thank you
