Good day! Allow me to introduce our new server to you because you might fit into our white-listed community server. We'd like to welcome you to what we call the "Freemason's Sanctum" server. For a little while a group of players have been playing in the privacy that a white-listed server offers, but now we'd like to open our doors and invite some players to join us in our adventures.

About us:
Near Vanilla - instead of playing with the normal vanilla version of Minecraft, we chose to add a few plugins that enhance our gameplay, these being: Tree Assist (to cut down those pesky trees) & SilkSpawners (to pick up those pesky spawners)
100% Legitimate - The foundation of this server is that everything will be done in legitimate survival, even the staff will not interfere with creative mode or anything that changes the balance between legitimate, and illegitimate.
Guaranteed up-time - We only accept the best, and our host is all about the best, we have guaranteed up-time and as long as Ranger doesn't blow things out of proportion when configuring, we should be fine. The owner pays a quarterly fee, helping us keep this up and running.
Community focus - The foundation of our server and group is community play. We like to build up a community of dedicated players that like to have fun and chat while they craft away. Even though we like building together, we also encourage players to spread out and create bases, towns and outposts of their own, but we also encourage community projects that help us bond over our newly founded server.

Why us?
We're a small, open community that's looking to expand. We're welcoming of people that want to stay, and work together to create larger builds. Want a massive railway system? We'll do it. Iron farm? We'll do it. It's all about community progress and we'd like people to join in on it.
Ranks?
As of now, there are no ranks. We only have operators and members. And for now we intend to keep it that way, not to cause class divides. In the long run, we might add a veteran rank for people who've been with us longest.
Rules
Well, what about our rules then?
[ 1 ] No hacking: This one will never change. Hacking breaks the concept of survival and will not be tolerated by anyone on the server. The default punishment is a Ban, unless deemed different by a staff member. This includes hacked clients that may or may not grant extra game altering commands and abilities which include but is not limited to: flying, no-clip, instant break, give, god-mode and invisibility. (Invisible potions are part of the game and allowed)
[ 2 ] No Griefing: Griefing is the destruction or modification of anyone’s builds, items, or property without their consent. This includes all the way down to torches laid out around their properties’ perimeter. This is ABSOLUTELY forbidden and 100% logged by our protection plugin. It can all be rolled back with a simple command, and the person who did the griefing will be punished by the investigating staff member. Repeat offenders will be Banned.
[ 3 ] No Stealing: If it is not yours, do not take it. If you take any 1 single item from someone without their permission it is considered theft and will be given back to them. Staff will punish the thief. Unless someone has clearly stated they allow it, BORROWING is theft. Always ask first.
[ 4 ] PvP is Consent Only: PvP is toggled on by default. This means, unless both parties agree to it, PvP is against the rules. If one party does not agree and PvP occurs the person who started it will be punished. UPDATE: This now includes ALL potions. Do not throw a potion at someone if its intended effect is to alter the targets health.
[ 5 ] No hateful language towards a member: There is no rule against swearing in chat. We are not the grammar police and we will not moderate the chat for conversation. The one exception to this rule is hateful chat directed specifically at any one or group of members. This is not allowed and only incites further rule-breaking. The default punishment for this offense is a Mute. Should it continue, a staff member will escalate the punishment.
[ 6 ] Don’t post malicious links: Any URL links that lead to a malicious outcome will result in the person posting being unable to post links. If attempting to do so without the hyperlink, that person will be muted.
[ 7 ] No building in the spawn chunks: The spawn chunks are an effective area of 12 by 12 chunks that are always loaded by the server, these will be used for automatic redstone farms and are not to be built on. A spawn city will be discussed and assigned at a later date by the community.

Dear FluxTiles,
I have chosen to decline your application based on the two following things:
1. You sadly do not meet the age requirement, we are willing to make exceptions, but for that the application would have to be exceptional. Leading to:
2. Your application displays a lack of information, if we're going to accept you we'd like to know more, so if you'd still like to join, elaborate on your answers.
To answer your question: as we're using a couple plugins (Dynmap, TreeAssist and Silkspawners) we're using spigot.

What about us stood out to you?: I love small communities where people actually get to know each other a little, and I get the feeling that your server is like that. Love vanilla, with a little touch of something extra as well I'm really just looking for a server to play on for a looong time.
Should you be accepted, how would you fit in?: I love to go on adventures with people, and help out if someone needs anything. I would be able to play for a couple of hours every day.
How many years have you been playing Minecraft?: Hmm, let me see... I think since 2012, so five years.
What is your Minecraft skillset?: I love to build, but I'm also such a collector haha. I like to build castles and stuff
How would you rate your maturity from 1-10?: 8. I'm mature and can be serious, but I also like to joke around if the mood is for it
I've chosen to accept your application, you'll receive the server information shortly.
Still looking for members! We've got about 10-20 slots open for active people. We're planning a grand opening on 28-10-17 where we'll be opening the designated spawn town building plot so everyone can join in and build a community place!
Events coming up: Enderdragoncommunity bossfight Wither skeleton hunt, in preparation for the wither!
Of course: the wither itself for the spawn town beacon.
And: a nether hub build-off, where we look to the community to build a section of the nether hub for the upcoming community project! The winner gets a supply of diamonds to start off their crafting career!
I hope to read your applications soon and I look forward to seeing you all on the server!

What about us stood out to you?: Small server with an age requirement. Extra points for not having a dumb "family friendly" chat rule.
Should you be accepted, how would you fit in?: I'm pretty good at building not atrocious things, especially with other people (who don't build atrocious things). Very easy to get along with and pretty friendly, however, I'm not the most talkative creature to come across, due in part to having a very demanding professional career.
How many years have you been playing Minecraft?: 4-ish
What is your Minecraft skillset?: Making theamed builds, getting lost in caves... and subsequently, dying in caves.
How would you rate your maturity from 1-10?: Most likely a 9/10, due to a dark sense of humor fueled by a perpetual state of exhaustion.
What about us stood out to you?: The fact than its almost a 100% untouched vanilla server, I love this game but never was into the whole pvp or minigame aspect. I hate how a lot of those bigger servers require you to have a plot, I just want something simple where I can build an awesome house and just explore.
Should you be accepted, how would you fit in?: I can only speak for myself of course but I don't see why not, from the description of the server it sounds like there are a lot of people who enjoyed the game like me, after all vanilla minecraft is where we all started.
How many years have you been playing Minecraft?: I've been playing since 2009 on and off (when it first came out) so about 8 years.
What is your Minecraft skillset?: I guess you could say i'm really only good at building, I get so into my creations and love to go exploring. Occasionally a little bit of PvE is fun.
How would you rate your maturity from 1-10?: 10, i'm extremely mature but also know how to have fun and joke around a bit of course.

The server's communityproject "Mesa Railway" has now reached solid ground again at our future spawn town location. Now all we have to do is fancy it up!
Write your application today and you'll be playing with us in no time!
What about us stood out to you?: you guys sound like my type of people when it comes to minecraft. i love to work o giant projects that take days to collect all the materials and build. and you guys even said it yourself "We're welcoming of people that want to stay, and work together to create larger builds. Should you be accepted, how would you fit in?: i'm a little bit bias here since i am talking about myself, but i will be as fair and honest as i can be. i am anti social at times, and sometimes i'm the most talkative you'll ever meet. i love to talk about engineering, architecture, poetry, and music. i have been known to be more of the jokester of my friend group, but i love serious conversations as well. i don't really know how i would fit in, because all of you are strangers, but given time i think you'll warm up to me.[/b]
How many years have you been playing Minecraft?: a little over 6 years now[/b]
What is your Minecraft skillset?: ever since i made my first world in minecraft, i have always been enthralled with the idea of farming up a lot of materials and building giant structures. i will get lost in the game for hours building everything from castles to modern day apartments. and over the years i would say that i've gotten a good grasp on how to build things (it also probably helps that i studied architecture and architectural drafting during high school). i also know my way around some redstone so i can build some more complex machines with it.[/b]
How would you rate your maturity from 1-10?: around a 8 or 9[/b]
thank you for considering my application, and i hope that i can join and be apart of this community[/b]

What about us stood out to you?: I've been an avid adventurer on Minecraft for over half a decade. I've managed to try out and get my settlement on many servers. However, I tend to come across communities being disorganized and improperly maintained, often a drama occurs within and you're stuck between sides. Mature communities are few and far between and even then, you are left with the ones who claim it and the ones who prove it. Between the name and the well-plotted idea, I figure this could be my next trivial journey. I always look towards communities that detail their plan of success and have found their rite of passage as you may call it. It shows dedication and a whole-hearted interest. Seeing as how this server fits my criteria, I'd be happy to get involved with ya'll and get to making bacon.
Should you be accepted, how would you fit in?: I'm a level headed guy, quite the eccentric one at times, but otherwise I'm a blast to chat with and I'm always happy to help others getting along. I have fair knowledge of design and I'm quite the chatterbox. I stream on occasion so that would be an involving thing, showcasing the behind the scenes of my own and other's activities and little events with the community. One thing some people often have issues with is knowing I work in law enforcement, and I have a dark humor along with a sometimes a stonewall in terms of sympathy for various things.
How many years have you been playing Minecraft?: Quite truthfully, I want to say I'm close to 6 years or so give or take a few months. I started out in beta and I've been dragging knuckles in survival ever since. I've dabbled in modpacks and what not like that, but I always return to just vanilla survival. I'm a classics kinda guy.
What is your Minecraft skillset?: I'm a moderate builder, I tend to stray towards medieval builds. I'm fairly squared away with redstone, and I suppose I'm fair with parkour...but that's another story. Otherwise, I'm your average player. I have a few tricks up my sleeves in terms of building and aesthetics, but that's it!
How would you rate your maturity from 1-10?: I'd average an 8; I hold my tongue and refrain from burning bridges so to speak.
1. What are the goals of your community? Is your goal to grow into a large community or to stay a smaller (but active) community?
2. Do you run Spigot on your server? What kind of anti-grief measures do you have in place?
3. Do you have a world border or do you let the players go where they would like?
4. Are dungeons turned up to max or kept as default?
5. Do you have a max mob count?
6. Is your target to stay a minecraft only community or to also bring in other games for the community to play together?
I apologize for the initial questions but I've chosen to leave a very good community recently as an administrator. Reasons are mainly due to differences of opinions regarding recruitment strategies (ages, size of community, etc) and also the means by which they choose to 'build their community' through having other games played together instead of the actual minecraft server. These were fundamental differences that led to my deciding to leave, which was very difficult to do as I still have people I value there. Having said that, it looks like it's time for me to find a new community and I want to make sure some fundamentals are gone through first before taking the step to apply. As for the other questions, these are more related to the usefulness of creating mob farms as spigot all but kills the usefulness of them sadly.
Thank you ahead of time for your patience and consideration of my questions above.
1. What are the goals of your community? Is your goal to grow into a large community or to stay a smaller (but active) community?
Currently we only have a few but active players, we are aiming for an active community of asrounf 20 players.
2. Do you run Spigot on your server? What kind of anti-grief measures do you have in place?
Due to a few plugins we use spigot, we use coreprotect to roll back briefs, but we do not and will never use a plugin to block people from building in places.
3. Do you have a world border or do you let the players go where they would like?
Players may go anywhere, but we will be starting a community spawn town soon, and are expecting players to partake in the construction.
4. Are dungeons turned up to max or kept as default?
They're currently kept as default, we might change that in the future, it's up for debate.
5. Do you have a max mob count?
Max mob count is vanilla default.
6. Is your target to stay a minecraft only community or to also bring in other games for the community to play together?
We currently only have a Minecraft community but the discord server has been expanded on for further games. Thus, anyone is free to partake in casual gaming with us in the games we have in common.
I hope I've answered your questions to your satisfaction. I hope to read your application soon.
Hello and thank you for responding. The answers were clear and while spigot is a double-edged sword, I am encouraged that you are using core-protect for the anti griefing countermeasures.Sadly, spigot's default vanilla setting you will find has a significant effect to any mob farms that people will want to make. We discovered that the hard way in my previous group and thus had to make adjustments. Hopefully this group is open to trial and error in this regard as well. If I may, I have a couple of more loose end questions to get some clarity before I make a decision to apply.
1. How long are you keeping this map active? Is this a season or are you planning a certain period of time to keep it active before resetting it?
2. You mentioned about the community town build at spawn and requiring people to get involved with that. In almost every case in every server I've been on, this kind of 'rule' has varying results where everyone will work on the town for a few days and then one or two decide to leave for their base, trying to get 'the best' area, leaving a partially constructed area for the rest to build.
How are you planning to call the project started and more importantly finished and thus freeing up people to go exploring and work on the things they want to do?
Thank you once again for considering these questions.
Concerning your first bit: we are always willing to make adjustment. And yes, the server is very much trial and error, and we're happy to go through this process to give people the best experience we have to offer.
1. How long are you keeping this map active? Is this a season or are you planning a certain period of time to keep it active before resetting it?
We currently do not have any plans for map resets, thus cannot give a certain period of time in which we'd like one to happen. But as with anything on the server, everything is open for debate. All major decisions will pass by the community in some sort of way.
Building at the spawn town is not a requirement (spawn town is also not in the spawn chunks, for they are reserved for mob farms) we expect people to help out as it's part of the community we'd like to build. The spawn 'town' will mostly function as a shopping district.
How are you planning to call the project started and more importantly finished and thus freeing up people to go exploring and work on the things they want to do?
We have a discord with an event message board, all contests, events, projects etc. will go in there. We'll also be making progress posts on this forum, to show our community and possible applicants what has been done, what's being done and what's been finished. In the case of the spawn town, it'll be a project that will likely never be finished until a possible future map reset, because as players join, they add on to it. And as people progress, they might add onto it as well.
We do not have rules or guidelines requiring people to HAVE to build somewhere, to HAVE to help with projects etc. but, we are looking for people who are willing to go the extra mile and invest their time and resources into what our server might offer others.
Events board:
10/18: The Spawn town > Mesa railway basic lay-out has been finished
10/29: The Spawn town location has opened up for public use!
11/1: The Spawn Town central station has begun construction! *spoiler*
11/1: White-list wipe, come join and bring some friends!
11/03: Start nether hub competition
Upcoming:
12/01: Start Christmas build competition

Still looking for members! We've got about 10-20 slots open for active people. We're planning a grand opening on 28-10-17 where we'll be opening the designated spawn town building plot so everyone can join in and build a community place!
Events coming up:
Enderdragon community bossfight
Wither skeleton hunt, in preparation for the wither!

What about us stood out to you?: you guys sound like my type of people when it comes to minecraft. i love to work o giant projects that take days to collect all the materials and build. and you guys even said it yourself "We're welcoming of people that want to stay, and work together to create larger builds. Want a massive railway system? We'll do it. Iron farm? We'll do it. It's all about community progress and we'd like people to join in on it." i also liked the concept of this not being just a server but a community. for some reason that really just spoke out to me.[/b]

I hope I've answered your questions satisfactory.
