The 20th century was the period between January 1, 1901 and December 31, 2000 but if you think it fits better to include a few years either side that's fine. My first thought is to call it the space age or the era of globalization but I think I'm going with the Age of Communism. When I break it down into 10 year periods and then look at the big picture the Rise and Fall of Communism seems significant.

Well we had a Bronze age and an Iron age maybe it could be the Petroleum age.

There was a lot of change in trends, culture, economics, war, and traditions in the 1900s.

I dunno about the 20th century, but I'll give you this: Way early in the 21st century, maybe 2008-2014, Minecraft Age.

Hmm... Something like "Age of Expansion" or something.

I would have to go with "The Age of Technology".

People went from riding horse-drawn-carriages in the late 1800s to driving cars, flying in airplanes, blasting into space. Computers, calculators, credit cards, the internet, cell phones.

Sure, was is certainly something that this century has been faced with. But it's not something that defined this century. Nearly every century of human existence has been plagued by war but never have we made such great technological achievements as we have in the past hundred years.

The age of who cares

The Nuclear Age/Era. Nuclear technologies were a huge thing for the most of the century, if anyone ever noticed.

I've always been in favour of referring to the '00 decade (2000-2009) as the Naughties. Derived from naught, an archaic word for zero.

As for the nickname of the previous century, I think that's a question best answered by the ages.
