This is because when you hear yourself talk, you hear it through vibrations through your skull, so it sound deeper. When you record using a mic, it picks up your voice through air vibrations. So when you hear your "mic voice", you're actually hearing how other people hear you speak. Science FTW.

I just hate how I have a hard time trying to get out what I'm trying to say. I could sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks or Barry White and still can't speak clearly.

I haven't played around with records too much to really make much of a comparison. From what I have my voice sounds a little quieter, but I don't really mind that too much.
Yes, and I don't know why! I sound dumb on recordings, and it really bothers me. I wish they would find a way to fix it.
I suspect that the the problem isn't the recording, it's you.
I don't mean that as an insult; it's just that as someone posted above, the recording represents what others hear when you talk; what you hear yourself is the distorted audio. If you listen to a recording of someone else talking, you won't notice any difference between the recording and that person's actual voice.

Yes. My cruddy headset does not help.
For the longest time, my bros all called me 'the world's most sensible 8-year-old boy' because I sound teeny in voice chat.
Whenever I record myself for a school video project or whatever it may be, my voice always seems lower than it really is. I don't really like hearing myself because it's annoying.
But not a lot.Only sorta kinda maybe medium.
