Hello, and welcome to the Groundhog Day Scenario Discussion Topic!
First off if your wondering:
What is a Groundhog Day Scenario?
Well a Groundhog Day Scenario is when you live the same day over and over again. Example: You go to sleep on Monday and wake up on the same Monday and everything starts over.
A Groundhog Day Scenario is a "time-loop" basically.
What this topic is for:
Discussion of the Groundhog Day Scenario.
Some examples of what to discuss are:
How one could be made, what "rules" does it have, and what you would do if you experienced one.
Here's an example of how to write out what your experiences would be:
Groundhog Day Diary:
July 25, 2013 (every day)
Day 1. I woke up to find myself reliving the same day as yesterday. I don't know how this happened and whether writing this down will keep, but if I get out of this state, this may be all I have to show what happened. So I'm writing this diary to help out others who may experience this as well. Wish me luck in escaping this strange phenomenon! Day 2. Again same day, what I wrote in this book appears to have stayed, I wonder if it works with writing other things? To find out I wrote to my friend to call me tomorrow at 5PM about something. If he calls then that will prove my theory, we'll see. Day 3. He didn't call and had no memory of getting the message (and of course no memory of what happened "yesterday"), apparently things scheduled for the next day become non-existent after midnight, perhaps due to the next day not really existing either.
That's could be how you write out your Groundhog Day, if you choose, only with whatever parameters you choose for a Groundhog Day to work and it's "rules".
So, what are your thoughts onthe Groundhog Day Scenario?
July 25th: Woke up, saw a cat, decided not to pet it, saw the girl of my dreams, Tina, didn't say a word, hotty Mrs. Jenner kicked me out of class after Chad said I cheated, I didn't, I swear, some days I wish I could just do everything over again!
July 25th: My iPhone is broken, is says yesterdays date... weird, and the same cat, wtf? I knew something was up, I saw Tina at the same spot, still, said nothing... Chad told Mrs. Jenner I cheated again, what's going on right now!
July 25th: I saw the cat, decided to pet it, I got the balls to say ask Tina out, but she said she liked adventurous dangerous guys, hmm... I told Mrs. Jenner Chad cheated, she told me to stay after class and explain, I did, thing is she asked me if I needed anything else... odd.
July 25th: I petted the cat, and asked Tina out, but different this time, I did my bet Jesse impression and said "Aye, baby, wanna chill wit me later" she said yes, I got a date with her later. Chad got busted again, but this time after class I said there was something else I wanted from Mrs. Jenner, lets just say, I shouldn't write it down... anyway, I went on my date with Tina, but at the end of the night she told me her parents weren't home, I wanted to kiss her but didn't... it's like i'm back to old wussy me...
July 25th:Cat-petted. Tina-asked out. Chad-busted. Jenner-well, let's just say, it went better than last time. Tina- well I went into her house, and went in for the kiss, and some other things... practice with Jenner paid off, turns out Tina liked me too, all's well that ends well, I could do this again and again and again
July 26th: Wait, no! my iPhone says the 26th, it's over... and the journal entries are still here too! Mom brought the cat in the house, saw how much I liked it and said we could adopt it. Tina says she loved last night, would love if I could come over again. Chad is in detention, serves him right. Mrs. Jenner, well, turns out someone caught her with a student... on the 23rd! She won't say a word so i'm safe. Well, the loop is over, but in the end I got the girl, slayed the hater, and well, got a nice little Kitty on the side, let's just say, I named it Jenner.

I relive the same day over and over and I'm the only one who knows this and remembers the repeats. After realizing I'm in a loop I'd start doing whatever I wanted due to the loop.
>So, what are your thoughts on the Groundhog Day Scenario.
I think it's impossible and only on science fiction. The possibility that after dying, one restarts life and lives it over and over, maybe differently, seems more plausible, though.
>How is it made?
If one was to enter into such a loop, and then eventually managed to get out of such a loop, then, I don't think what caused it or even what stopped it could be known, it'd remain mysterious. However, a likely explanation would be it happened in a very long and realistic dream. I've actually wouldn't be surprised if the day repeated over and over in exactly the same way, for all but the very last time, which is the one where you wake up and live the real day, and of course the next day, tomorrow arrives.
>What "rules" does it have?
I don't think a notebook like the one where one writes would be possible to keep for the day. It becomes implausible by being "magical".
Such a notebook that doesn't revert to the previous day could be used as proof that you're stuck in the day, i.e. you could make other people write stuff on it and show it as proof that you're stuck for the next day.
>What would you do if you experienced one?
I don't know, depends on the day
But, yeah, I think it would be exasperating, as in the movie, but hundreds of years down the line, one ought to appreciate immortality. I'd also have time to play all videogames, read all books ever written, watch all movies and TV series, read the whole internet... I don't know, it doesn't sound that bad actually.
>And how would you get out of one?
Depends on the mechanics that got me into it in the first place, but anything tried could just fail. One thing I'd try obviously is trying to stay awake for as long as possible, I think people can go up to 11 days awake non-stop before dying, but of course, being stuck living the same day over and over seems a better option than dying.
