AM I ANNOYING MOST OF YOU???!!?!? This is just plain normal that I don't care about Enh I hate this This is okay ...Sorta like-ish Meh I find this okay. I'll get tired of it after a while I guess it's okay :/ Not really
Comic Sans Came about because the designer used Microsoft Bob. When he used it, all the little balloons- which were supposed to be friendly, cartoony, and playful- used Tms Rmn (or rather, a serif font) He didn't like that, so he chose to design a font specifically for use in those text balloons, for that specific program.
And it was.
Then, Microsoft shipped it as part of the default fonts of Windows 95. That's when things started to go downhill. People would use it for comics- because it's called "Comic Sans" even though that is not even what it was for. if a strip used Comic Sans- well, they wouldn't last long. The additional problems came with the onset of the web. Because it was built in to windows systems, it became a possible platter to choose among the default available web fonts you could use. People used it everywhere.
I've seen resumes done up entirely in Comic Sans. I've seen Funeral announcements written in Comic Sans. The problem is not with the font itself, it's with the CONSTANT misuse of the font for purposes other than it was designed, and since it was designed solely for an ancient attempt at making an easy to use, friendly GUI system involving character interactions, unless you happen to be making something that fits the description, it's not appropriate- and that's pretty much everywhere.
Thankfully, there is an easy solution to prevent Comic Sans from bothering me on forums.
I have the font uninstalled. The missing font just uses the default font. In fact, I cannot think of a single case where I thought "Gee, this site would probably look better if I added Comic Sans back to my fonts".
Comic Sans and some serif fonts. Sans serif just appeals to me more than the calligraphy-esque serif. I can't stand Time New Roman because they remind me of writing papers.

It is not too serious when used on the forums... It indicates sarcasm or just to use it to annoy people.

I'm not a fan for Times New Roman or other boring, serious font like that.
I don't care if you hate Comic Sans. I'm going to keep using it.
(Sorry guys. xD)
On the other hand, I love Georgia.
It's misuse.

...boy. I never realized that a font caused so much discomfort.
