I had orthodontic work done because I had a crossbite. This required a palatal expander to be worn for some months followed by braces. This really wasn't done for looks since my teeth are otherwise decently straight. A crossbite can cause unpleasantness concerning one's jaw later in life.
So, some of you may have or have had braces. I do not, but some of my friends do, and they say it's painful. Why do parents waste hundreds of dollars on gluing a painful metal wire on their kid's teeth for 2 years just to straighten them?
Unless your teeth are country meth head crooked, braces aren't necessary. It's just something for rich white people to put on their kids to make them conform with the societal standards of beauty, which is in and of itself a construct of the same rich white people.
Before having braces, my teeth were really messed up. My permanent top right middle incisor grew out facing the wrong way. Not only that, but I had an extra tooth sticking out the middle of my top incisors. And my top canines were too far up.
So I am grateful for my braces, even though it is a pain to do any proper dental cleaning with them.

Rich white people? That is a blatant lie. Most people have insurance that covers the cost. Do you think me friend who's dad work 2 jobs is able to pay the $12,000 to replace his son's front tooth? Out of pocket no, but with insurance, easily. Everyone I've known has had braces, and I'm the only one that can be classified as wealthy in the group.
7,000$? Jesus. I saw the bill for my braces a while ago, it totalled 850Euros.
I think before the braces the retainer was $3000. Your braces were probably actually $5000 but you only paid $850 because of insurance.

The Commies count their quarters and the ArtSci wish they could, the Engs have the longest pole and slam it home for good, so big, so hard, so tall, it reaches all the way to heaven, so shut your hole, we climbed the pole, we're sci 1 ing 7!!!
Yes its the "Im no good unless im perfect" Rule again...This is a violation of natural evolution...where only the strong survive...Parents make thier children more acceptable to mates by surgical modification. This means that sooner or later due to media pressure poor people who cant afford braces will die out and the rich people who can will have to do all the work themselves. It also shows how many insecure parents there are...Since your genetic make up is gotten from your parents crooked teeth are a downer on them....What isnt understood is that poorer people have staighter teeth. A history of crooked teeth comes from a history of well fed people who ate lots of meat....Straight teeth are not good for chewing stuff!
Or they could just want braces just because having crooked teeth can cause bad oral heath.
I had braces for 2 years. It was only painful for the first month or so. I didn't like them because there were certain foods that you were not allowed to eat with them. Food can also get stuck in them too... Glad I don't have them anymore.
I hate my braces, and I can't wait to get them off.
You can't eat like anything. Even though I eat Doritos and ice cream and even popcorn with them.
But somehow it IS supposed to straighten your teeth, and it's working. It's painful too sometimes.
Parents give their children to help their self esteem. It's not just for "vain white kids" or anything, it's a cosmetic change that helps people feel better about themselves. Also, it's a mere two years of inconvenience for permanent beautiful teeth, (at least, permanent if you actually take care of your teeth) unlike something like collagen or cosmetic botox injections.
Why do you all ignore my posts. To sum up all the ones that were ignored:
1. I've heard that if 2 people kiss each other, and one has braces, the other one's gums will bleed. True or not?
2. What color braces do you like the best?
Ugh, Braces. My mouth is so whacked up that I actually need surgery. I have a massive overbite and my jaw aches painfully when I eat or talk for more than a few minutes. The whole process actually includes braces for 6 to 12 months then surgery and then more braces after that. I won't be able to eat solid food for over a year.
There's plenty of people who still look good with braces, and of course they hurt but believe me. The pain is worth the gain.

I have a fetish for women. Is this odd? Is there something wrong with me? It’s really bad, too. Like, everyone time one of them walks by, I do a sly little chest-rear ogle. I can’t stop myself! It’s like a disease!
When you have them, they're the worst thing to ever happen to you. When they're off, they're the best thing to ever happen to you.
