I live in sort of the middle-area between urban and rural. There are plenty of houses close by me, but I have a lot of room outside and there's a certain friendly country attitude among [most of] us. We have that natural space, and so long as it isn't July it's pretty quiet around here. And to get to "true" country, it's only a five minute drive down the road, or ten minute bike-ride.
And we're also close enough to the city we can enjoy some of the benefits brought by it, particularly being in short distance of being able to go into town and partake in festivities and hang around. I don't do it often, but it's there.
Personally, I'd like to stay in the country. Even though I don't go wander about as much as I used to I enjoy the quiet it offers. If I lived in town there'd be too much **** going down for me to go to sleep and I'd feel too confined. The city is a decent place to visit I find, but not one I'd live in.
I enjoy both rural and urban areas. What I can't stand are suburbs. Take everything I dislike about cities (Noise, pollution, dickery, lack of privacy), and everything I dislike about the countryside (isolation, lack of services, hicks), and you've got a typical Floridian suburb.

I like in sort of a Rural leaning mix of the two. I don't live in a development but I don't have to drive an hour to get somewhere besides my own home, the grocery store is like 20 minutes away so I like it better like this. Populated, but spaced out
I live far enough out that just a little down the road is where the high speed internet ends. Though i'm still not happy. I want to go live in the woods alone. Never staying in one place.
I live in a medium town of 500,000 people, but live in a more rural area where each house has a few acres and there are many farms. Many people raise animals, but aren't necessarily farmers. I live on a smaller area of five acres and am ten minutes away from stores. There are many densely populated areas, though, and we also have a lot of tourists that come to the beach in the summer.
I live in an urban area, but it also only takes an hour or two to get to great areas for outdoor activities like hiking or mountain biking. But i guess i prefer urban, mainly for convinience.
And we're also close enough to the city we can enjoy some of the benefits brought by it, particularly being in short distance of being able to go into town and partake in festivities and hang around. I don't do it often, but it's there.
