If there was one square mile of the most plush and comfortable carpet and on it sat an item integral to whatever you're doing, a cat would sit on that item rather than the carpet.
So around ten years ago, my family had these two kittens. A couple weeks after we got them, we noticed that they would somehow get into rooms that had the door shut. Then we started noticing grates taken off of the ductwork openings in the floor. My dad kept telling my younger brother and I to quit taking the grates off the vents. We kept telling him it wasn't us. One day I heard one of the grates rattling, so I went to check it out. One of the kittens popped up out of the duct. They were using the ductwork in the house as their own little secret tunnel system. They would go in through the opening in the kitchen (it is in one of the toeboards so it doesn't have a grate), crawl around, then pop up out of one of the floor vents.
This is the same set of kittens that jumped off the roof one day chasing each other. They were fine.
This is also the set of kittens that had one get her head stuck in the cabinetry, then the other started attacking her head that was sticking out. We had to take a couple screws out and saw a little bit of the cabinet away to get her out.

AWESOME CATS, I wish our cat did something like this. I would love for it to be able to climb walls or something.

Talent didn't go anywhere, it just gets lost in all the noise. You have to find it.
