Not sure, but I think that veteranarians just don't think that the medication they'd use on humans would help the animals, if the potency didn't kill them first. Just my opinion.
It's just really taboo for people to think that he technically "murdered" his grandfather. I believe it is okay for animals, because it was first built and made for animals.
if i behave weird in my post; it's not that i am weird actually. I like to pretend being weird just for the satisfaction of me and to make the community feel more normal. herpy herpy derp. btw, comic sans.
The difference is the dog...well...is different then your grandfather. It doesn't talk about it's old memories, it can't let you know what a wonderful person you are, and it's friendship is more a loyal to master thing and not i created him, through my son/daughter
I think it might have to partially has to do with the fact we hold human life higher than basically anything else. We feel as though beings, such as humans, are somehow more conscious than animals.
bible bull about suicide being a sin but animals dont do to heaven so who cares
Yay my athiesm
You honestly don't need to flaunt your beliefs to everybody. A lot of agnostics and atheists get angry when somebody tries to actively advertise their religion, yet a lot of them don't understand that they do the same. It's hypocritical nonsense.
I thought you could take them off life support legally as long as they 'sign off on it'? but if you are asking about if it would be frowned upon by everyone, then yes it probably would be. Maybe the reason is that we believe that the human still has hope for a succesful recovery, but our pets do not? Either way we are being self centered, but thats just our way of life, and it will never change.
There really is no difference, people make bonds between both family members and their pets but we are cling too much to our own kind, especially when the person wants to leave. Hence the hatred to people who allow the terminally sick people to get euthanized.
People need to realize that all life is just as valuable as the next, no matter what kind it is...
Of course it's valuable. Nobody (I hope) is denying that. The problem is that the person is suffering great pain and wants to be put out of his/her misery yet their wishes aren't fulfilled due to societal opinions about euthanasia. So instead, they slowly deteriorate in agony.
Well, the main argument for euthanasia is that people who are near the end of their lives don't "think straight".
I support people having control over their lives though and make people follow through their requests so I'm not exactly the ideal person to answer.

I get it religion is important to people but when you base evrything blindly on someone's version on a version on a version of an obscure text written 2000 years ago it makes no sense.
Watched my father slowly waste away in the cancer ward.
Watched my cat slowly dying of inoperable facial cancer.
If my dad had asked me to, I would have pulled the plug for him, and damn the law to hell.
The cat got one last summer to enjoy the sun, then I called the vet.
I still feel like a ******* for calling the vet, but I still feel like a ******* for letting my dad go out in a drooling haze of morphine, not as a man in possession of his mind.
There are no right answers, there is just life, agony and death.
"What becomes of the broken hearted, those left behind after the dear departed?"

Most of our society is based off of Greek society which was longer ago than that. Democracy, the reason you have constitutional rights came from more than 2000 years ago (if you live in America). *insert facepalm*

Yes they created the first democracy but it has been changed through logical reform vs religion which changes when somemone comes up with a new interptetation of something from thousands of years ago.
Here was the OP's two cents..
Your dog is near the end of its life and in pain. You take him to the vet to get put down. Tell people about it later and all you get is sympathy.
You grandfather is in constant agony and begs you to let him die. But if you do, you're ostracized and possible prosecuted.
What exactly is the difference?
Edit: Wow. That was terrible grammar on my part.
Yay my athiesm boo outdated ideas about a Schizophrenic's insane ego

If I helped you out, or made you laugh feel free to hit that green button!
TL;DR People are ignorant and fear death.
