I don't support the poll because it'll probably get the thread locked for elitism.
Oh, that's a good point. There is also the question of who gets put on it, plus it would dissuade members from posting their opinions over simply voting.
Edit: I suppose I could go either way with a poll.
That's a pretty good point, but at the same time look at the "votes" already. Maybe one or two people actually explained why they think their nominees should be elected.
Is it really something to be explained, though? The attributes that make a good moderator are pretty much widely accepted, are they not?
You know... Upon giving it more thought, I'd rather not see any of the people I like become moderators. They'd probably stop posting as much, or stop posting so casually. Self-censorship and all that.
In my opinion and experience on the OTchat, I have yet to see a single person maintain an unbiased composure. While many of the people you guys are mentioning "rule with an iron fist" or are "Good at enforcing rules" I don't think that is all that it takes to be a good moderator.
Patience, clear judgement, and overall character are more defining than them having a past of saying "This is against the rules." Or "There is a forum/topic for this here."

That's definitely true, I'd certianly have to alter my ways. It's no good as a moderator to get caught up in personal issues or such.
Well I've known her for months, she's absolutely too lenient and cracks under pressure and hate too easily. Always trying to please everyone which is a terribly bad thing as a moderator, you need to understand you're going to have to make decisions that are inevitably pissed off someone and that's something she has a hard time dealing with.
Often engages people into arguments where she's blatantly being trolled and as such gets made fun of because she's simply "too nice" and people take advantage of it. You say I'm "abrasive" and "strict", well I'm the iron fist kind of moderator, ruthless, to the point, but extremely effective.
She can also be terribly biased at times, often not realizing she's being (which is the case in most people), and that doesn't help at all.
Not to mention that she barely visits the forums anymore.
I suppose I did some of this in them from a situation before. Don't take to "Strict" as a bad thing really, sort of a 80/20 split. I'm going to say 20% of the time maybe that's a bad thing. You are abrasive, but I also think if you were a moderator, you probably would be more neutral than anything. State what went wrong, and the reasons for warning/suspension/ban without giving any emotion to it. So while I see it as being a problem, I also see it for it's effectiveness is.
In any case being assigned to a position of duty, can change people for the better. It's happened to myself and others, where I/they have been put in a position over others and changed to act more appropriately in response. Not saying it always happens but it does sometimes.
Who gives a damn anyway? Almost everyone on the forum wants to be a moderator or an administrator, but very few will. No stress.
I feel sorry for the people that WANT to be a moderator. I would never want to be one. They are all hated by someone somewhere and take all of the crap from the forums. It must be a horribly frustrating job.
I was just saying you all are judging people based on qualities that aren't necessarily important.

Frustrating, but worth it. Keeping the forum a clean, friendly place it it's own reward. The people who appreciate that will thank you as well. Look at "Thank a moderator week" thread, people do appreciate the mods.

That always happens, whether it here or in real life.
Just I hope no one will become big headed over this.
Yeah, that's why I almost never post in them. Leaves a bit of a funny taste in my mouth.
The names I've seen getting put up in this thread are not like to become big-headed over it. So I do not believe anyways.
Popularity contests are fun though XD, well sometimes... people can get really put down by them as well.
Also, those willing to elaborate on their decisions may be able to offer good points as to why.
That second phrase about unicorns (you know, the
wildly untruesolidly factual one) was meant to imply that the first was also untrue.Oh I hadn't seen this. Would you like to explain your reasoning? I like Alaya but I don't know much of them.

Welcome to my world.

I don't know many people that well but from what I have seen I think Kata/Nature/Scurvy is a good choice.
Amarae
Alaya
Scarlet
Scurvy
I agree 100% with this.
Kata is Scurvy.
*scratches head*
My bad.
