The reactions you get from people would be the same if it were to be 6 billion, or 8 billion, or 20 billion, so long as everything else in their life was the same.
Our brains just can't comprehend and manipulate those big of numbers, which is why arguing with people face to face over this issue is especially hard, as the only response you can ever get is "You don't think 7 billion too much?" regardless of whether or not it is factually too much; we just hear blah blah blah big number. It's a little easier online, such as in a forum, but it's still not optimal, in my opinion.
Too many people = less resources. People need to start wearing condoms more often when they have sex or we'll all die because of the bigger population.
I posted a great big post about population dynamics in a thread about this a while ago; but as far as the population is concerned, it's a bit late to control it. The population will rise exponentially as it is now, and then reach a point where it cannot be supported by its habitat, or it runs out of resources, and it will fall dramatically. Most of the deaths will probably be as a result of starvation, and will probably occur mostly in third-world countries, and especially among the lower class overpopulated places like India and China. You'll just see the current food crisis get worse until the global death rate overtakes the birth rate. Then it will continue to fall until a sustainable carrying capacity is reached.
This is basically what happens to a population of any species when its limiting factors/carrying capacities are removed. Look it up if you don't believe me. It should be common sense that the Earth's population will eventually drop, by the way. We don't have unlimited resources.
The reason we have a population this big at the moment can mainly be attributed to the invention of agriculture. Other things like technology and medicine then removed more limiting factors which sort of pushed the population along.
TL;DR: The Earth's population is rising exponentially. Eventually it will reach a point where it will crash. I don't know how far or when, but there's not really anything we can do about it now.
And which country would we take these people from, exactly? And don't say "all," because we can't get many African countries to even keep a census, let alone make them cough up a seventh of their entire country into death.

We'll take the next American Idol winner, get them **** drunk, blindfold them, and have them throw seven darts at a map of the world. Where they land is where we send some of those nukes various world leaders claim to be getting rid of.
BUT SOCIALISM! Y U NO LIKE FREEDOM
Wholly shitty donkey! Have you got a source for that number?
OT: Well I don't think the world population increased by 1 billion in 24 hours. That would be slightly overkill.

You realize it'd take a genocide 100 times as large as the Holocaust to set us back little over a decade?
Then we'd best get to work on it.
