On the one hand, we have a knife! And in the other, another knife! Their blades are identical, yet one serves no other purpose than murdering people. How did we reach this conclusion, pray tell?

If a creeper walked in to my house, I'd either be cowering in a corner or unzipping my trousers.
a standard pocket foldable knife is a lot harder to get out of its holding. as you need to pull it out manually, and it doesnt flip open with the push of a button.
also, manual knifes are usually very stiff to get open, and take while. you proberly wont be able to draw them quickly in a fight.
also, i would like to see these studies.
I can draw my pocket knife that I carry everywhere (except school) in less time than I can draw a switchblade.
I can pull my butterfly just as fast as my pocket knife, it also is much longer and I use it for utility purposes, they are not ONLY used for killing. Just like switchblades they are stamped as murder weapons even though most use them as utilities.

In Texas we can own guns without a liscense. U mad? *trollface*
News flash! You can own a gun in most states without a license. I can (and have) open carry a handgun in Virginia though, and open carry's not legal in Texas. U MAD?
A standard knife would be 20% faster in my studies over them while im not the fastest drawer the other person doesn't even need to try. This is out of pocket BTW.
Really? According to me extensive research, and my Ph.D in knife drawing, butterfly knifes, in the hands of an expert, look a lot cooler when drawn than the standard switch blade. And we all know that's what wins the fight.

I disagree sir. There is no such thing as a knife fight. The guy with a knife in a fist fight is the guy that wins. The guy with a gun is the guy that doesn't get into fights because he knows he's held to a higher standard in court.

Who cares about fist fights? And who brings a knife to a gun fight either way? I'm talking about Knife Fights.

There is no such thing as a knife fight! Any trainer will tell you that if you and your opponent both have knives, you'd better get your ass out of there because you're going to get cut either way even if you do manage to incapacitate your enemy. Any good trainer will tell you to carry a gun too. Only stupid trainers that just want your money will tell you a knife is all you need. Those trainers are douchebags.

We're talking specifically about knife fights. Not whether or not it is wise to get into one. The only way to win a knife fight is to draw your knife with the most flourish, which the butterfly does far superior to the switchblade.
"The only place where the knife fighting fantasy exists
is in the martial arts. There is no such thing in the modern
civilized world. In legal terms it is attempted murder,
assault with a deadly weapon or homicide. To the streetfighter
it is assassination, not a "fight" at all. To the criminal it is a tool
...for robbery Everyone else considers it abhorrent macho stupidity." (Marc MacYoung).
I own guns and knives, and carry a knife daily. It would behoove me to know a bit on the subject. As I said, there is no such thing as a knife fight. If you're talking worst case scenario, and I'm being attacked by a guy with a knife and have nowhere to run, and I only have a knife on me, It sure as **** wouldn't be my balisong. Ideally it would be a quality fixed blade of sufficient length, like my K-bar. I don't carry my balisong on me at all, but if you're getting really specific and want me to talk about what I would do in the aforementioned situation if that's the knife I did have on me at the time, then the answer is nothing. By the time I'd have it out of my pocket and deployed, I'd have multiple stab wounds in my torso.

I haz...
I also haz a butterfly knife... God Bless Minnesota... :cool.gif: :biggrin.gif:
but you also have the most uptight bums when it comes to religious freedom and gay marriage...
Where the do you live???
I feel safer when I have a knife on me... the twin cities are bad places to be un-armed. Knifes have saved my life several times.
Yeah, that's what i thought you meant.
And my over all care is still zero.
