I'm getting less and less fond of the term as people try too hard to use it. That may just be the inner hipster in me, though. :smile.gif: I think it's nice as a word to denote people that frequent General Off-Topic, but when it gets to the point of being repeated over and over like a meme, it gets a little bit annoying.
And for that reason (among others), NO to otter water.
Also, this came up in the IRC channel earlier, people were saying another newer member can't call himself an Otter because he has only been around for 5 months, and has 318 posts in OT. I think that's silly.
Silly for someone not to be accepted by a group of people who are the ones usually referred to by such a term? I think not.
It's among similar grounds as to why Jews don't like people of non-Jewish faith or ethnicity to be called Jews.
I don't think I will ever consider myself an otter (Whether others do or do not is up to them). Not being around for the origin of the term, and being still fairly new to the forums of Minecraft I feel disqualify me from the the title. I don't mind it though.
I don't care if otters means off-topicers or whatever, it honestly just drives me crazy when people on here say that. 'Fellow otters' or anything like that is even worse. I also don't even know what people are referring to when they say that. I assume they are referring to the well known, active posters in this section, but anybody could be an.. otter.. I suppose.
