First off, let me begin by saying I don't want to offend anyone. I'm cool with furries, some of my friends happen to be such.
But I was just wondering, alot of the people who play Minecraft seem to be furries. Is there a reason for this?
(And if anyone finds the term "Furry" offensive, let me know what to call it, I'll change it! :smile.gif: )
I have no clue. We do seem to be a bunch of misfits minorities here on the MCF. Atheists, furries, gays (not as common as the previous two, however), etc.
Furries, as most people call them, are people who take on a second, animal-based personality. They're generally a quiet group. They get flamed alot, because most people assume that their interests in having an animal persona carries over to their sex life, which is usually false.
A furry is someone who is a fan of anthropomorphic creatures (Human-animal hybrids)
Honestly I don't see any difference in the furry population here and the furry population anywhere, you've got to remember that many people visit these forums everyday. So there is bound to be some furries amongst them.
So according to this person, most of the people who play Minecraft act like this.
Wow, I'll never play Minecraft the same way again knowing this...
Not most of the people, but a larger number than I find in other games, such as World of Warcraft and others. I play alot of MMO's and frequent many forums, so I get alot of exposure to many unique cliques and groups.
Well, I was turned into a furry after I joined OT, so I wouldn't know firsthand why furries are attracted to minecraft.
Personally I think it is a random anomaly, or we are just more open here.
oh, and furries are fans of anthropomorphic animals who identify with the furry fandom, nothing more, nothing less.

Luck of the draw, I guess. Being a furry, I'm prone to running into others, so I never noticed the trend.

I agree and commend this description. Many have had trouble trying to explain the minority to the outside group, but this seems to sum it up well. :smile.gif:

Thank you.
I always make a point of being open to the beliefs of others, and to respect them, so I gain a pretty omniscient view of a lot of different groups.

Can we stick you in a quarauntined breeding enclosure? You're such a rare species, we'd hate for you to go extinct. lolz
I have noticed this as well, and thought often about it. It seems that the 'younger generation' (ages 10-17) has a much higher number of furries, weeaboos, and people like 'bronies'. This forum is essentially made up of this generation (let's face it, 90% of users are in the age range I stated). Cultural issues are difficult to analyze, but I definitely see a difference between this generation and my own. The internet is just INUNDATED with these people. Perhaps they are the most vocal; perhaps they are the most populous. I don't know. All I know is that it frankly creeps me right the **** out. I can't help but wonder what they will do with the responsibility that comes with adulthood.
There is deviant behavior in every generation. Still, it seems that it is getting worse as time progresses. It's easy to see why, too. Mass media. TV and internet are the culprits, and they are definitely taking their toll on us. What we will become is the question that remains.

most of the furries I know ARE adults. They lead fairly normal lifestyles, believe it or not

And animals live off the land.
And the point in Minecraft is to live off the land.
I guess I could see the appeal.
Honestly, I'm a furry, and I used to REALLY like minecraft, but now I just stay for OT.

I play minecraft because I liked legos as a kid, which is not connected to furry.

But you said it yourself you became a furry after joining OT, so the connection still stands.
Either way, it was just a guess. Probably wrong anyways.
