What makes an illegal immigrant different from a legal one?
I my opinion?
1) a majority of the trips made illegally across the border are done so toting drugs or weapons.
2)background checks. some of them have been linked to alquieda (or however it's spelled, that terrorist group)
3) While it's true there are many people coming over just looking for a job, they are coming over to send money out of our economy. the number of people looking for a 'legit' job is less than drug runners and unlicensed contractors.
4) unlicensed workings. If your names not on the books you can claim any amount of degrees/licenses you want; sometimes they cant be proven otherwise. Would you want someone building a family home who in reality has no idea what the building code is?
1) a majority of the trips made illegally across the border are done so toting drugs or weapons.
Source? Because this sounds made up. It also has nothing to do with a person's immigration status, since I'm pretty sure naturalized American citizens do drug runs across the border too.
2)background checks. some of them have been linked to alquieda (or however it's spelled, that terrorist group)
None of this applies in this case, since one of the eligibility requirements is a background check. And you cite another un-sourced statistic that sounds like ********.
3) While it's true there are many people coming over just looking for a job, they are coming over to send money out of our economy. the number of people looking for a 'legit' job is less than drug runners and unlicensed contractors.
So they're only here to funnel money out of our economy? They won't buy anything while they're here? What would stop a legal immigrant from funneling money out of our economy? In fact, what business is it of yours what they do with money they earn? People can flush money down the toilet for all I care. And if you asked me, I think many Americans do a good job of that on their own.
And are any of these points not going to end in some made-up statistic that seems to be based on some prior prejudice?
4) unlicensed workings. If your names not on the books you can claim any amount of degrees/licenses you want; sometimes they cant be proven otherwise. Would you want someone building a family home who in reality has no idea what the building code is?
Why the **** would you hire an unlicensed contractor? This isn't their fault for being illegal, it's your fault for being enough of a moron to hire them. Not to mention that it's typically illegal to do so in the first place. And again, this isn't something that's fixed by coming a legal immigrant. Anyone can become an unlicensed contractor and they almost always do it to scam people out of money.

True but another difference is that took the proper time to become legal, like my ancestors, and they aren't infected with any diseases that could cause a pandemic. Plus it's all untaxed earnings and ultimately those who are in need lose out.

All of these are preconditions of this bill.

It's not all untaxed. And even for those that don't pay income taxes, they still pay property and sales taxes. And even then if you can manage to avoid income taxes, you're probably not really earning that much to begin with (since the employer would have to be willing to avoid reporting this expense to the IRS).
And then you have to figure that any immigrant aiming for a job which requires a higher degree is probably much more likely to become legalized in the process anyway.

personally, I don't like the whole "illegal immigrant" thing. if you come into our country... well grats, you made it! here's your beer, your mini flag, and tax form. but free benefits to those who just sneak on in... naw, that's not right. plenty of american citizens need college aid...

Well I don't know about america but in Australia the main reason we have illegal immigrants is because if you try and seek asylum the legal way, you're likely to get locked up indefinitely.
People are people. Not being born in America is not a good enough reason why someone doesn't deserve an education.

"Who just sneak on in"? Read the requirements necessary in order to become eligible for the money.
I have an idea.
If they want to be legal, have them go back to Mexico first, then cross the border with all their papers. Problem solved.
Right, because there isn't a system so ****ed up and restrictive that you could die before becoming a citizen. I live in Texas, I've met illegal immigrants and meet them often. Do you really think they spend days hiking across a goddamned dessert, only to live life here in hiding, to avoid doing some paperwork?
And to the general point. This is largely for kids who grew up here illegally. Kids will be brought here at a young age, sometimes not even knowing they are here illegally until they're an adult and need their papers(sometimes for college). It's not their fault, it wasn't something they had control over.
Why do we even have immigration laws anyway? It bugs me that we're not allowed to freely move around the only place we know, and the only place life on this planet has known for the past three and a half billion years. Five or six thousand years ago you could go wherever you wanted, but now, you move one inch and a fat man smoking a cigar, sat on a leather chair behind a mahogany desk on the top floor of a skyscraper throws a tantrum. :S

The big problem I see with it is that the money payed for it is my money, my tax money.. Seriously, sometimes I feel like I live in the stupidest state in America. Don't you think those that actually make a difference in America should get jobs and a better education before those that didn't even come here legally.
The big problem I see with it is that the money payed for it is my money, my tax money..
As I pointed out earlier, even illegal immigrants pay taxes. The only taxes they're likely to get away with not paying are income taxes and in that case they're likely not earning much money and so wouldn't contribute much to the amount of taxes collected anyway.

Illegal immigrants living here and doing work and spending money in our stores are doing just as much to "make a difference" as most other naturalized citizens. What is it about the bureaucracy of becoming a legalized citizen that all of a sudden turns them into human beings worthy of help?
Yeah, we don't help everyone equally and we really should, but the answer to that isn't to try to **** everyone over equally and that if anyone should get ****ed over more it's people who haven't gone through all the red tape. The answer is to just start treating them like ****ing human beings.
Why is it we still have so much difficulty with treating people differently because of where they were born? As if anyone born into a shitty life somehow deserves it.

They don't make a difference in helping us. All they do is make extra jobs and increase the unemployment rate. If they want in this country they must at least get here legally to get help. I don't see what the big deal is about going through the process of becoming an American citizen. Everyone should have a fair chance in America LONG as they go through the process. Why give people who don't know crap about our country a good education for free when the people who are devoted to our country have to pay for their education?
So? Some of my money is still being used on this. I don't want that.
Then I don't want my tax money to pay for the roads that you drive on. Buy your own damn asphalt.

The big deal is that it doesn't happen. You can't just go to America. That system is a piece of ****. Do you not understand this? You can live and die on the waiting list.
And they know as much about your country as you do. They grew up here, and went to the same public high schools you went to. The only thing that separates you from them is that they were born a few more miles south a few months earlier than convenient. Both of those differences are absolutely insignificant in every single way.
