Are there even any shows left that use American animation companies?
They usually have them done over seas and it gets put all together back at the studio.
I doubt it.

Anime I believe is the best! Especially Naruto Shippuuden!
A lot more effort and creativety is placed in anime than American cartoons.
Well, that's my opinion anyway.
Most of America's animation has suffered under the Animation Ghetto; the belief that cartoons are for children only. Because of this, American animation has been damaged by a severe lack of growth, due to less adult material being made. Most of the animation is aimed for children, which damages the variety of work American animation can do.
In Japan, the animation is aimed at multiple age groups, there's an incredible amount of variety of animation aimed for adults, teens, and children. It has no crippling disability to sell to adults or teens.
I'd say Japanese animation is more fleshed out, but I haven't seen too much of it.
All I can really do is list a few of my favorite animation series/movies done by the cultures.
American Dexter's Laboratory The Land Before Time The Secret of Nimh Ed Edd and Eddy Powerpuff Girls Adventure Time My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Japanese Paranoia Agent Arashi no Yoru Ni Spirited Away Gurren Lagann Fooly Cooly
All of the above titles are pretty appreciated works, but you may notice I have less Japanese titles-That's just because I've seen less japanese animation. As you can tell, I'm in no real position to judge.
If I want comedy, it's american animation all the way. If I want anything else(serious sci-fi, drama, action, thriller), it's gotta be anime. I don't like anime comedy in general, because there are too many cliches and conventions thrown around instead of the animators genuinely trying to be original.
I really like Japanese voice acting. Over there, being a voice actor is a job that garners a lot of attention, so they always have good voice actors that really get into their roles.
Agreed nothing else to say.

Your a such a great friend that if we were both in a falling plane and there was only one parachute... I would feel really bad and think of you often.

I have to disagree. In anime, the characters look a lot more realistic than in American. Thus, once you choose the physical features you want, it's not difficult applying them to a person.
Where as in American animation, the characters are not at all realistic. So while you have chosen certain features, it's not as easy applying them to a shape that doesn't look like a human outline.
You get what I'm saying? So I do believe American animation has that more uniqueness to it and it's also very varied among styles; Japanese doesn't have many mainstream styles.
To me, the average cartoon is supposed to be comical, easy-going, light-heartened show, so the unrealistic-comic appearance really appeals to me. As I said, this is what I generally view animation as. You can still make serious stories out of it but you need to create it using more 'serious' looking animation like they did for Avatar: The Last Airbender for instance.
I doubt it.
put your hands in the air and scream **** THE WORLD!!!

America used to have hand draw animation, now, they have shitty, hell, flash? I guess.
Japanese animation, though still getting better, is still hand drawn, just like grandma used to make.
But, sorry, MLP beats Japan every time.
Pitchforks. SHALL WE?
Steam: RobotDeathParty
MLP uses flash.

YOU EVER NOTICE HOW WHEN THEIR MOUTHS MOVE THEIR LOWER JAW ALWAYS STAYS IN PLACE?
SHOULDN'T THE LOWER JAW MOVE WITH THE MOUTH?
A lot of japanese animations that do this actually have the jaw move when the head is viewed from the side, oddly enough.
In other words, from the front, the jaw doesn't move. But when shot from the side, it does.
And of course, some animation actually puts effort in the jaw.
That's funny.
Agreed nothing else to say.
... She's hardly moving.

tl;dr America > Japan
I rest my case.
What do you have to back that up? Nothing.
I rest my case.
