One of the above is correct, folks, but I need more reasons.

I'd like to think of myself as intelligent, but that, given the sheer variety and vastness of the cosmos that surrounds me, it is readily apparent that this is not the case.
I am a nation with history,
And of my creation there is much mystery.
I was born in the grand summer, or so they say. Refers to the Xia Dynasty, the first historical Chinese dynasty. 夏 (Xia) can mean grand and summer.
Born on the banks of an earthen river, on an ancient day. Referring to the Huang He, or the Yellow River.
And on this same earthen river I was reborn as a nation of trade, Referring to the Shang Dynasty, where 商 (Shang) means business or commerce
Prospering and evolving, living a revolutionary life, until the day I was betrayed; The Zhou Clan declared one of their members king during the reign of the Shang.
And I became the traitor, victorious, after which I claimed my divine right. The Zhou Dynasty was the first Chinese Dynasty to claim their divine right of heaven.
After which, I lived on as a powerful state, whose name may still live on today, it just might. Referring to the militaristic Qin Dynasty, and the word China is thought to have been derived from "Qin".
I succeeded myself as a nation based upon perpetual peace, also spreading my trade out towards the west. The Han Dynasty was based in Chang'an, which means "Perpetual Peace". They fully utilized the Silk Road and thus grew rich.
Yet falling to civil war, I could still have no rest. This...
Three more incarnations I lived: one quiet, one chaotic, and one cruel. And this refer to the three periods of Jin, Southern and Northern, and Sui.
Then once more I was stable, rich, innovative, and, yes, under my own rule. Tang Dynasty, innovative, the Chinese Golden Age, and overall, very "Chinese".
But once again, seven decades of chaos ensued, ending only under the lead of a great ancestor of mine; Song Dynasty, after the 5 Dynasties and 10 Kingdoms period of anarchy. Emperor Taizu of Song's name can be interpreted as "Great Ancestor of Song".
Who guided me back into the light, to be a nation innovative, and once more divine. The Song Dynasty was another great age for China.
But yet again I was conquered, and not from within. Mongols. 'Nuff said.
Rather an enemy from the north, wandering folk, who conquered us with much din. Ditto. Mongols.
And then I was a mere puppet state, still powerful, whose capital still remains as mine own today. Yuan Dynasty, based in modern day Beijing.
Nothing lasts forever, and once more I fell, yet once more was I reborn as a brilliant, shining, and clear state, greatest empire of the day. Ming Dynasty, known for being a paradise of stability and the last dynasty ruled by ethnic Han Chinese.
Again conquered from the north, these new northern folk integrated themselves with my own old culture, ultimately ended with the rise of more proper military folk. Dem Manchus, and thus the Qing Dynasty, who integrated themselves with Chinese culture."Proper Military Folk" refers to the Wuchang Uprising, where "Wu" means "military" and "Chang"means proper.
Then came a modern era, and a modern state. A state of the people, I ultimately succumbed to civil war again, split by political ideals. Declaredthe Republic of China. Split into the Communist and Nationalist sides.
And now, both parties still live on, in separate states, one exiled and one taking hold, strong and leaping forward, but not without its own ordeals. People's Republic of China in mainland China, and the debatably "original" Republic of China in Taiwan. Leaping forward is a hint to the Great Leap Forward.

Precisely. I thought that a riddle like mine with a specific "category" for the answer should require some reasoning rather than random guesses.

Technically, 夏, needs a 天 after it for it to become 'summer' or '夏天'
Ok, my turn.
Straight and curved.
Hard and malleable.
My two halves join,
Surrounding a core of diamonds friend.
I walk smoothly on the ash of trees,
But roughly on rock.
I am over five thousand years old,
Yet I still live on today.
In houses, in stores, in factories.
I am a savior of arts,
Twas ran away
And so, I wear a hat of silver.
I dress in a yellow coat,
Pale and peach inside.

@Deonyi
Yep, I'm half Chinese, half Japanese, so technically, I should have known that, but in Japanese, 夏 can stand by itself.
Hmmm....
I'm thinking carbon, partially because my mind is still focused on chemistry, but also because it actually makes sense. Diamonds and wood ash both contain carbon.

Diamond's friend... what is diamond's friend? Light?
Is it a lens? A ball bearing?
If not, here's my thinking so far as I've gotten this late night:
Straight and curved. Shape indeterminate/multiple shapes/complex shape.
Hard and malleable. Metal?
My two halves join, Symmetrical.
Surrounding a core of diamonds friend. Light? Carbon? Stone?
I walk smoothly on the ash of trees,
But roughly on rock. Wood ash is untouched, yet rock is worn, perhaps?
I am over five thousand years old,
Yet I still live on today. Clearly not a living object. If 5000 years is a reasonably accurate timeframe, it narrows it a bit. If it's merely a figure of speech, well, that's just annoying.
In houses, in stores, in factories.
I am a savior of arts, Used to protect something.
Twas ran away
And so, I wear a hat of silver.
I dress in a yellow coat,
Pale and peach inside. Silver top, yellow body/outer shell, pale/peach interior.
Sounding rather like some form of protective casing. Sounds as though it's naturally occurring, or at least early metalworkers (talking really early here) or craftsmen knew how to obtain or create them.

The Monguls invaded from the north.
There are two main parties, communist and nationalist.
While Relyk was indeed the first to guess China, you were the first to give sufficient reasoning for China, and thus... Good job!

HINT:
It's not a buckminsterfullerene...
Anyway...

That or Fire.
It protects a form of art.
Buckminsterfullerene sounds cooler.
A lot like dihydrogen monoxide and nitrous oxide.

It also provides groundwork for art.
and ands with it's for commonplace name.
"And so, I wear a hat of silver.
I dress in a yellow coat,
Pale and peach inside." A pencil fits that description.
"Provides groundwork for art"
Is it graphite, aka lead?
The last clue:
Leads technical name is Pb or plumbum, Latin for plumbing.
So we garner P
Leads commonplace name is lead and is also commonly used in the place of graphite.
So, starts with P, ends with l
Has graphite inside,
Peach coloured flesh; wood!
