A fantasy series told through the eyes of the physician of a mercenary company. It follows their exploits over a course of forty years. I've just finished the last book in the Books of the North series, and I'm impressed.
What stood out:
No "good" or "evil." Just shades of grey.
No one man armies.
The author wasn't afraid to kill people off.
Dark humor.
Well thought out, believable story.
Believable antagonists.
No elves, dwarves, orcs, etc.
Has anyone else read these books?
I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys dense fantasy novels.
Found art of it. :smile.gif:
(Every person with discernible features in this image is story relevant.)
In order from left to right:Goblin, Captain, Croaker, Silent, Raven, and One-eye.
I read the first few chapters of one of the books when a friend lent it to me, but i had to return it. I'd forgotten about it. I'll have to hunt it down and start again.
