I used to be a huge Star Trek fanatic. I watched every episode of every series, at least 3 episodes every day. The Next Generation is my personal favorite series.
Not sure what everyone saw in DS9. It was good, but it wasn't even close to TNG, or even Voyager for that matter.
I'm of the minority of Trek fans that rather enjoys Enterprise. If more people had not hated on it so much, perhaps it would've went on longer and the ending wouldn't have been so rushed. :sleep.gif: But then, IMHO, it's hard to go wrong with Sam Beck... er, I mean, Scott Backula. :biggrin.gif: I really would've liked to see Enterprise continue on, to see how the Federation began and formed out, beyond the signing of the planets at the end of the show. It would've been cool to see Starfleet really kick off with more ships like Enterprise as well.
But I'm not really a hater of any of the series. I enjoy them all for what they were, and what they were going for. I appreciate that they all were in the same universe, and most had tie ins with each other in some ways. Sure, some episodes of each series sucked. That's just the way of things. Some of the movies sucked too. But it's all Trek. It's all good in the end. Each show brought more of the Trekverse to life.
To see where it started, back with TOS, and where it has progressed since, and how it's affect real life (space travel, things like cell phones, touch screens, etc) and other sci-fi shows as well, it's really amazing. I'm a Trekkie for life. :biggrin.gif:
Yes. Assuming you didn't cheat to figure it out that was pretty good.
Filby sees Serenity?
I didn't cheat. It was actually pretty easy to figure out- "His eyes uncovered" obviously means that I am able to "see" the truth, in this case meaning I was able to decipher your message. As far as "Filby sees Serenity?" I have no idea.

Voyager was annoying for numerous reasons (I didn't like Janeway, Neelix, or Kes). Personally I think DS9 was the best because of the character interplay. I'm not dorky enough to make character webs for Star Trek characters but I think the data would prove that the character relationships in DS9 were more complex than any of the other shows. I also think there was greater character variety and, in general, a larger recurring cast. So viewers are much more likely to find characters they like. Two of my favorite characters are unique to DS9; Quark and Garak.
And yes... I have seen Serenity. I've re-watched all the firefly episodes several times.
I guess i like it all. (except galactica didn't like the story one bit.)
It took me a while to get into Battlestar Galactica but after the first 10 episodes or so I really liked it. Stargate sucks balls. People keep telling me how good it is and every time I try to give it a chance I just can't get around the plot and characters.
Everyone has their own opinion and i like star gate better i guess.
(100 posts yay)
Care to explain why? I just don't understand and if you explain maybe I'll give the show another shot. Like... is there a specific number of episodes you have to grind through to get to the good stuff? The few episodes I have seen were at the beginning. Does the show get better later on?
I guess i like it all. (except galactica didn't like the story one bit.)
the reverse for me. Star gate was pretty 'meh' for me, but Battlestar Galactica was awesome. The story, the ships, the combat. But Baltar should have been airlocked several times during that show, I am still not sure how he survived.

I think maybe I should give DS9 a chance. I've never really seen it before, but I do like that it has recurring appearances of the Romulans and Cardassians.

A ton of Cardassians. Eventually you learn a lot about them. I won't spoil it if you aren't familiar with their planetary government etc... but it is interesting.
Gene Roddenberry's vision of Star Trek sucked. Too much thinly disguised socialist idealism wrapped up in a "what law of physics can we rape THIS week?" format. DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise were far from perfect, but they were at least believable.
Also, note that TNG got a lot better after Gene died...
Anyway, although Enterprise dicked with the continuity beyond all comprehension (as if Star Trek ever had a coherent continuity), it was quite refreshing after a long period of the franchise being bogged down by diplomacy and technobabble. Things I loved about Enterprise include:
- T'Pol
- Minimal transporter usage = no "oh **** we had a transporter accident, how do we fix it?" plots.
- No Prime Directive = no "let's talk about the Prime Directive for a whole hour" plots
- No Federation = no wondering why 98% of the crew is human
- No holodeck = no retarded holodeck episodes
- Lower-tech = no "Deus Ex Technobabble" plots
- Shran, the badass Andorian
- T'Pol getting rubbed down in the decontamination chamber in the pilot episode
- Fewer "rubber forehead" aliens and more alien-looking aliens
- At least one episode had an inside joke about rubber foreheads
- T'Pol showing off her ass crack in Season 3
I forget. It's been a couple months since my last re-watch. I've seen the whole series 4 or 5 times. I guess since I don't remember for sure I might as well start re-watching it again. I think they just called him "Commander" but toward the end that changes. I think he gets promoted or something. And yes "Deep Space 9" is the name of the space station.
Sisko started out as a Commander and was later promoted to Captain.
Voyager was annoying for numerous reasons (I didn't like Janeway, Neelix, or Kes).
Janeway was awesome and Kes was the most gorgeous sex kitten to ever grace Star Trek. Neelix deserved to die a horrible, painful death. The only times when I liked him were when he annoyed the **** out of Tuvok :biggrin.gif:
I guess i like it all. (except galactica didn't like the story one bit.)
The new Battlestar Galactica was simply brilliant for about 3 seasons. Then it simply collapsed under the weight of its own mythology and kudzu plot, and the showrunners couldn't figure out a better way to explain everything than "Earth wasn't really Earth, everything was a miracle from God, and the characters are angels". Seriously, what the ****?
I think they all are great, Voyager being my favorite, TNG, Enterprise, Original
I know very little about DS9 except the setting, and a few of the characters. I am currently watching TNG though and i will watch DS9 when it comes out on Netflix.
The bad thing about Enterprise was it being a prequel, Therefore creating plotholes EVERYWHERE, but overall I enjoyed them.
I personally think there needed to be more massive starship battles, like what you would see in StarGate. For example i think they should have actually showed the battle at WOLF 359 instead of just showing the wreckage.
voyager was the first series I was ever exposed to...watching it every weeknight on broadcast tv on my grandparents farm :tongue.gif: i still love it today and I am watching all the episodes on netflix.
DS9 is my favorite I think..my favorite episodes were always those that revolved almost around quark and the other ferengi
I have watched quite a bit of TNG and I also enjoy that series.
I wish they would make a new one already :sad.gif:

So I had watched the Original Trilogy a while ago (2, 3 and 4), and I liked it.
After I read this thread, I checked out that site with all episodes and watched a few. I watched "Where No Man Has Gone Before", and I was pretty interested. I think I might watch some more.
While I also like character development, (which the show has a lot of, obviously) I also liked the schlocky effects, for some reason.

Yeah, Space Jesus was worthless.

I already know about their planetary government, thanks to my Star Trek dictionary!
...
Yeah, I've got a Star Trek dictionary...
Also, note that TNG got a lot better after Gene died...

Janeway became an Admiral, so she is not subject to this rule.
Janeway > Picard > all others.
Sisko started out as a Commander and was later promoted to Captain.
Fixed.

You should watch the Original Series.

Wait, what? Are you talking about the Original Series, seasons 1,2, and 3?
Its pretty good, but way overrated.
No, the movies.
I haven't watched all of the Original series yet, just a few. But I am interested in them, so I'll be trying to watch them soon.
Oh, the Movies. You know there's more than three, right? and almost all of them are great.
As far as watching more episodes of the Original Series, might I suggest "The Enterprise Incident"
