I click on all new threads just to mark them as read.
I click on the button labeled "Mark topics read".
What I usually do is run through all the threads in tabs except for threads I don't care to look at. Like the My Little Pony thread, then for all the stragglers I go back and hit the "mark topics read" button. After that, I view all the threads until I get to the end. Rinse, repeat.
Don't really pay attention to who makes the thread or who's posted until I'm in the thread already.
After 10:30 PST, my IQ drops to around that of a shovel, please disregard anything I say after aforementioned time, it will likely not make any sense, and is best ignored.
seriously, there are many threads where I have posted, then it died. Coincidence (hopefully) is the cause.

Embrause is a cool dude who doesn't afraid of anything.
BreadLord is another guy I look forward too. If he isn't accurate/trying to help, he's usually funny.
Yourself usually posts pretty sensible stuff, so I check his posts out If I see them.
I don't really look at the latest poster, but I do certainly have some favourite posters that I respect or find funny. Although many of my favourite posters left when the chat thread was closed, so I have less now.
I just noticed a habit of mine:
When I'm reading a thread, and come across witty/funny/interesting comments, I check who posted them.
Then when I skim through long threads, I look for those users, mostly skipping the other comments.
Often I'll end up reading the thread from bottom to top because someone'll quote something and I have to go back and read to understand what everyone was talking about.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that does this?
Edit: I need to work on not using the word "I" so many times! :3

Nah, I do the same thing. I end up skipping a lot of posts unless they're by people I like.
