Ehh, i wouldnt say its THAT bad, ive stolen a couple things from a sorta big company called "Cub Foods" they dont have the sensors that all the other stores have, so if you put something in your pocket without cameras seeing you, you can just walk out with it xD. my mom questions me on how i have so many hershey wrappers in my room though
Can't be bothered reading through the thread, so I don't know wether or not this has been said but, if you download music illegally, watch certain material (you know what I mean), or watch movies online illegally, can classify shoplifting as wrong. Not only are most of them stealing, but they are all morally wrong.
I have shoplifted in the past, and I'll admit it, the thrill you get out of getting something for free, which you know you should have paid for, is amazing. But the guilt afterwards is awful.
True. But i dont have a job, (im only 13) but i dont get paid, so whenever i want something i have to ask parents. and they usually say no. so thats mostly why i did it
I nick a pack of gum or a butterfinger every now and again, yeah it's wrong and if I ever get caught I'll accept the consequences.
It's not right, I think a lot of people do it for the thrill, that little rush when you walk out of the store with an item you haven't paid for. I do it for some gum or candy every now and again.

Ask them no more questions, never hear them lying.
My god there is so much wrong with people in this thread. So what if it doesn't hurt profits or other people? You just don't it! Can I walk into your house and steal your lightbulbs, it won't really hurt you economically right? Geez how immoral OP is is jut beyond me. This is freaking disgusting. That you are so self centered that you think you can just walk out of a store with hundreds of dollars of merchandise? I am appalled someone could be so indifferent about it, same with all the people who are as well. Maybe you were raised poorly, but how does respecting someone else's property not just come naturally to you people?
One stick of gum for only one time, no biggy but if you're a frequent shoplifter you're not only hurting the company's profits but they're employees, every $1 of merchandise you steal is a dollar that some minimum wage worker who needs it can't have. I don't care about profits, I worry more about how it effects their employees since they always cut from the bottom up when they need cash.

If it was Walmart, totally steal, they hurt small businesses and general stores so much. If its big chain owners it wouldn't hurt their profits to steal stuff like gum, candy, toilet paper, and the bunch. Heck even a T.V. would not hurt them. But it's against the law so...it's pretty wrong. Plus think about the employees who work there. They would be the losers of shoplifting.
Why would you do this in the first place. You shouldn't shop lift ever. It doesn't matter how nice the thing is, listen to your conscience and do what is right. That's what I think.
Alright so my stance coming dorm a shoplifter i have 2 other friends who do this they started and kept it a secret at first but i found out and sort of peer pressured myself into it sort of I'd that makes sense? I don't understand though because it literally feel horrible about it I'm the only one out of them trying to stop one of them feels bad the other doesn't care which baffles me. But i cut it down to a few stores in love the rush and i was raised well imo not great not trash but I'm a needy person I'm always wanting stuff my family isn't too well off well not bad but i don't get much money so it steal I've stolen about god knows how much more than I'd like to say considering trading cards are expensive but what I'll say is i can't justify it is want to heck we all do because we do feel bad but hey I've managed to cut down a bit started shopping etc so that helps and as the OP stated in would never steal from a local business instand by that also but i i fe comforted knowing others do it but yes the other Nd goal for me is to quit heck i even made a pledge to donate an estimate of what I've stolen to charity when I'm older and then some which by no means makes it better because the buissnes won't get that back but it's something? Feels good to get this off my chesf

I only read through the first page, however I believe you have a fundamentally flawed view of the people who own your local wal mart or wal greens. These are franchises, which means that somebody LOCAL paid potentially millions (and by this I don't necessarily mean they were rich and paid in cash, but instead may have taken out HUGE loans) to acquire the rights to call their shop "Wal Mart" and gain access to the various infrastructure and goods that Wal Mart sells. These people are essentially no different then a small business owner, except that they might have been more willing to go into debt or had more savings at their disposal to get into this venture. They are the ones who are hurt by your decision to steal items from them, not the Wal Mart corporation. Now, they will factor in estimated amount that will be shoplifted and build that into their prices, however if you own a franchise, this can be difficult. Wal Mart corporation may tell you what price you HAVE to sell your items at, for example, but what if your local area has a lot more shop lifting then the average Wal Mart location? These are all things that they have to think about.
You have to remember that the real people that are hurt by these actions are never the people you might deem in your head as "deserving" of the "punishment", but instead are the franchise owners or the employees (less profits = cut costs else where = less pay to offer employees).
For anyone that thinks it is harmless, its the same argument for trying to care for our environment: Even if just one person steals a pack of gum and that alone will make an insignificant affect on their profits, so to is this true if one person decides to recycle. But does this mean we shouldn't recycle/lessen our carbon footprint? No, because just as if all of us begin to be more eco-friendly we can affect change in our climate, so to does a lot of people shoplifting a single pack of gum make a huge impact on their ability to remain profitable.
I'm in favor. My friend shoplifts every so often and so far he's never gotten caught for it. Plus, it's not like it will actually hurt a business' profits
I luled.
Official of Alesgan.
It's because of the morons who shoplift. If nobody stole, they wouldn't raise prices to make up for lost profit.

Still invalid (but amusing) argument. Disney teaching that shoplifting is ok? And look at how they go nuts over copyright.
