In my opinion, the Nazi doctor's defense position is actually quite good, given what they were accused of. The Nazis also could arguably have been said to have made medical progress. If that is so...should that information be destroyed out of respect for the people hurt, published in secret for the betterment of the living, or what?

that's a problem. Take what I was saying about Hypothermia. The Nazi's were giving prisoners hypothermia to help their troops in Russia. In other words, they were doing it "For Science". However, because of the inhumanity of it, it used to be a bit of a touchy subject on what to do with all this documented evidence that could save countless lives because it was attained through murder and torture of innocents. I personally believe that the information is there and it'd be wrong to let someone die because the information that could've saved them was received the wrong way. However, we should prevent the suffering of others for scientific gain.

Well it happened and it helped. The way data is gathered can sometimes be more accurate if it is gained unethically. But if it is gathered ethnically then more people approve of it. Thats my dumbed down view.

The Holocaust was an incredibly horrible time, but many medical discoveries were found, even if a lot of people were killed.
Well the question is whether those medical "experiments" fall under the definition of "Holocaust". Holocaust describes the mass killing of 5 to 6 Million Jews purely because of their ethnicity and religion.
Those scientific "experiments" are not technically part of that. They are a form of "science" where humans are degraded to test subjects. That is not restricted to Nazi Germany, though. A lot of countries did it at some point.
First off, the holocaust is not considered just of jews. However, the latter part of your second sentence is correct. Likewise, you are under the assumption that these "lab rats" were not picked because of their ethnicity/out of the ordinary attributes. For example, with one infamous German Doctor, twins were a favoured specimen for tests. Also, many of the subjects came from the concentration camps.
I know I'm going to catch **** for this and people are going to look at me like I'm an ass but I have to say it again. THe expirements and research that Mengala and his like performed have advanced science and medicine far quicker then attempting the same pursuit of data ethically would have. The man deserves a medal, "A horrible monster, but his end result was good" medal, but they should be wearing something like that when they should have been executed.
Anyhow, a lot of the more cruel experiments actually will help eliminate a bad testing process either now or in the future. Limb grafting and the like I can paticularly see coming up rather soon.

Look it's big red text!
Now that being said. Ponies.
Those medical experiments were absolutely digusting.
I once read a story about a pair of identical Roma twins. They were four years old. They were lured in for experimenting, and when they came out, their backs were sewn together, the stiching infected, bleeding and oozing pus. The doctors tried to create siamese twins.
The mother somehow obtained some morphine, and killed the twins to end their pain.
Another story: A young lady was watching Nazis shoot jews. One of the soldiers threw a little infant in the air, and shot it like a bird. He then shot the child's mother, who was watching her baby get murdered.
The holocaust is, was and shall always be, a terrible time when humanity showed what it could do worst against it's own self. We preserve these stories, testamonies to say to the future generations, "'Lo, this is what man can do worst against his own brother."

By this logic, we should award serial killers for training our policemen to deal with threats against civilians.

Dear holy mother of the robot AIDS, crying over his late father, at the barn where I was born. Your opinion may seem reasonable to you, but think about what you are saying. The holocaust killed 11 million innocent human beings. Killing anyone for anything is wrong. Even if it comes with a reward bigger than the cost.
(Don't throw that "Would you kill one man to save a million. Yes. I would. Every reasonable person would)

If the reward is bigger than the cost, how is it ever NOT reasonable to do it?

No one should ever be murdered for profit. Ever. Even if the profit would be twice the penalty. Saying what the Nazis did was justified is horribly wrong. In every way shape and form.

I'm not disagreeing that the nazis were wrong , but if you kill 1 person to kill a million then that profit is justified. But other than more lives - lives shouldn't be exchanged for profit.
Just like I said, I would kill a man to save a million more. But I will NEVER say that what the Nazis did was in any way *helpful*, it did not save more than it killed. 11 Million. You cannot fathom in your mind how much is that really.

Not only Jews, they also put disabled people, homosexuals, and gypsies in concentration camps.
Which was..?
