Eyestrain always troubles me a lot when I sit in front of the computer for a long time. Do you have some good suggestions about alleviating it?
Heat. Take a break from the computer for a bit. Run a cloth under some hot water and place it over your eyes for a bit. If you don't want to bother with the cloth or water you can rub your hands together until the friction makes them warm. Then simply apply the heat from your hands to your eyes. Not a perfect alternative but it helps.
Buy a monitor with a higher refresh rate. If your monitor has a lot of flicker (Caused by slow refresh.) you may not notice it visually, but your eyes will suffer.
Also, if you routinely use the monitor in a dark environment, consider turning down the gamma. A nice, bright monitor can look nice, but when it's the only real source of light in the room, it's like staring into the sun.

I forgot about that. I do that with my netbook all the time. If I am sitting in a dimly lit room I always turn the monitor's brightness down. It might look a little strange at first but it doesn't hinder your ability read the screen.
I usually just pop a small painkiller, but only because it happens maybe once a month to the point where it gets really annoying. Idk, try doing something outside? Wear diver goggles while minecrafting? Suicide?
