All these furry threads only ignite my hate further.
disagree, I learn something new with every new thread. in the majority of threads if you just dig through the fire and flames you can learn something new. just ignore the haters and enjoy the conversation.
interesting that many have enjoyed furries though they might not know it. starfox, bugs bunny (all looney toons actually), the banjo-kazooie series, the list goes on. knowing this, why are there still haters? they in denial?

See people, let me use this ignorant child as an example about why I'm educating you guys.
Because none of you know jack **** about furries.
Making a large generalization bordering troll bait material, thank you, that was extremely educational.
SIDE NOTE: You cannot force someone to understand something. It's their choice, and it's your choice to burden yourself with teaching someone something. It's voluntary, yes, but trying to dictate something into their minds probably isn't going to work.
@Soulfox I'm not trying to DRILL IT INTO THEIR BRAINS, per se, but I just wanted to clear up mean generalizations that people seemed to take to heart.
The main problem is that the term "Furry" is probably the second largest category of people on the internet, just behind "everyone". Its simply too large a group to be placed under one term without this happening.
"furry" cast a large umbrella that people are being pulled into, and others try and get out from under it.
merriam-webster has yet to properly define this term.

Oh, quite on the contrary my friend:
fur·ry adj \ˈfər-ē\
fur·ri·erfur·ri·est
Definition of FURRY
1: consisting of or resembling fur <animals with furry coats>
2: covered with fur
3: thick in quality <spoke with a furry voice>
Lol I'm sorry, that was completely and entirely useless.

I agree. I love to role-play, but I think they go too far, and the porn pictures are gross. XP However, if they want to do that with their lives, then let them.

lol, that is why I said "properly define". the definition they give has nothing to do with what we are talking about.
I don't see why they didn't do it yet, i mean look at the definition of tweet. they clearly don't have a problem with internet slang.
1tweet noun \ˈtwēt\
Definition of TWEET
1: a chirping note
2: a post made on the Twitter online message service

sounds like it from the definition. I guess putting it in merriam-webster made it a standard vocabulary word, but putting it in turned it from slang to English vocabulary. Furry can be considered internet slang, and it is used quite a bit. I think there is precedent enough to give "furry" a definition that involves the meaning we on the internet generally accept.
Definition of SLANG
1: language peculiar to a particular group: as
a : argot
b : jargon 2
2: an informal nonstandard vocabulary composed typically of coinages, arbitrarily changed words, and extravagant, forced, or facetious figures of speech
oh! there is actually a "new words and slang" portion of Merriam-Webster that you can submit words to. we can make it semi-official, perhaps our definition can make it into the real dictionary.

I don't care about the differences between furries and non-furries.
I just... Don't give a damn. A lot of people say they'd "only get mad if they shoved furry porn in their faces", but honestly, I'd probably get mad if anyone shoved furry porn in my face.
Besides, people don't do that*. *usually

Also it's not that horrifying, people are just putting breasts on birds. Birds can't have mammaries. Yeah.
also- rule 34 people, EVERYTHING has porn. People hate furries beacause they are widely known, and the otherkin are what most people take for furries. (there are some really scary fetishes out there, they just arent widely known)

After 10:30 PST, my IQ drops to around that of a shovel, please disregard anything I say after aforementioned time, it will likely not make any sense, and is best ignored.

I don't understand, how can you disagree with a fact?
fix'd. you seem to cut the answer to your question, so I added it back in.

What I think: Furries are okay. I don't agree with their behavior, but have no problem with some kid next to me at school saying he's a furry. The ones that annoy me dress up in fursuits, annoy people, and pretend they are someone they aren't. The casual furries merge their love of animals and wanting to be one with their real self, making it part of them, instead of dressing up like a strange mascot.
But you know, this is all opinions. Feel free to add onto these or disagree.
