You better not say it is 42 just for the lulz and the +1 btw:
Here is what I think it is:
You go through so much stress and repetition each day for a long time, to only have short periods of times that you have had fun or regret, to remember this all under your dying breath, then rest in peace.
What do you think it is?

If you can understand the apple of Minecraft, you understand the meaning of life.
In other words, find 72 gold and 1 apple just to heal 10 hearts with one use. The point is to just prove that you went that far in the game to even make the golden apple.
Do you want the scientific answer or the philosophical answer?
philosophical please. short and simple if you can.

Now thinking over it.... it seems that most likely most people will say that or something similar as well :/. pointless thread

I think the meaning of life isn't necessarily to enjoy yourself as much as possible, or to, on the negative side of the spectrum, act like only a supposed after life matters. Rather, the meaning of life to me is to experience as much of the world around you as possible-both the good and the bad.
It is impossible for us as humans to entirely comprehend, but the Bible gives us a pretty clear explanation. We live our lives as close as possible to the way Jesus did. He fulfilled his purpose (dying on the cross for our sins), and our purpose is to accept that gift and respect it by doing as he did. Just think if everybody acted like that! The world would be a pretty awesome place, wouldn't it?
You knew when posting this topic you would get a religious answer and (probably) an argument to follow. This is my opinion and it's up to whoever is reading this to believe it or not.

I'm glad you, unlike most religious zealots, don't care about other people's opinions.
...
You are a good zealot.
For me, the meaning of life is to defile virgin powder fields. Sometimes it's to shoot people. Occasionally, it's to physically express my enjoyment of electronic music. The former-most of the three is what I did today.

This enlightening post brought to you courtesy of a serious overabundance of free time.
There is no meaning. You will live and die, everything will continue as if you hadn't existed. We mean nothing to the universe and everything will keep going when were all dead.
Saying life has or doesn't have meaning is itself misleading. Meaning, definition, purpose, all of these ideas are human constructions. There is no such thing as 'meaning' outside humanity, which a lot of people look for and cannot find.
That said, the only way to achieve a sense of fulfillment in life is to establish unachievable goals. To strive for the unobtainable-- that is what gives life a significant purpose. If you go through life with obtainable goals you may eventually achieve them, at which point you life slinks back to it's purposeless state. If you set unobtainable goals such as... to become the best writer you can be, you will glean fulfillment from that so long as you pursue it and so long as it is relevant to who you are. It really makes no difference in the great scheme of things though.
In that sense life is both purposeful and meaningless. Or rather the meaning is to have purpose, which is self defined. But purpose is, in and of itself, meaningless.

That really just begs the question.

You make your own meanings because you need a reason.
