WASD in any game where, if I DON'T use an external mouse (as opposed to the trackpad), it gets extremely hard to play. For some reason, Minecraft makes it into that list of games. Not that it's really hard or anything.
WASD is overrated. Sure, it beats directional keys for ergonomics and access to additional left-hand keys, but it is certainly not superior to the oft overlooked keys of superiority.
ESDF.
ESDF is superior. It places your left hand on the natural home-row, and it gives you additional quick-access keys. For games that use a lot of keys, you can now naturally use R, T, G, V, C, Z, A, Q and W, in addition to the usual Shift and spacebar. This calculates out to more control, which is always a good thing.
What about the numberpad?
I like to switch between WASD and numpad a lot.

I use the arrow keys. I have controls set up a specific way for the games I play and my mouse and keyboard positioned in such a way that is comfortable for me and prevents me from messing up as much as possible. WASD doesn't give me that. And plus it just feels really awkward for me.

ESDF for the win!
Hell yes! was about to ask why there wasnt an option for that. I have always used ESDF in just about every game. WASD feels weird to me, and I keep missing keys when I am 'forced' to use it.
I prefer WASD Since it's easier for the games I tend to play. Left middle finger operating W and S, whatever the other two on either side of it are operating A and D, thumb on space bar and right hand operating mouse.
I honestly prefer RDFG because I (and everyone, I think) have a little indent-type-thing on F that makes finding they keys easier when I need to pay attention to the screen.
It's the arrow keys for me.
It's just easier, being left handed. With WASD, my hands are too close together.
Also, I re-map space bar functions to the right CTRL key.
I'm curious how the WASD/Arrow key preference breaks down with right & left handedness.
It's my speculation that righties more often prefer WASD and lefties prefer arrow keys.
That is, righties that use the mouse right handed & lefties that use the mouse left handed.

I have to try this, actually.

Easier access to Space Bar and mouse
I play A LOT of first-person shooters :biggrin.gif:
Pretty much
ontopic: I might have to try this mystical 'esdf' configuration some time.
How would you do alternate firing? Anyway, must've been a pain to play that way.
