I need braces, my teeth are kind of bad. I was thinking I should get Invisalign, but they are too expensive and have some other disadvantages that I would probably do.

In a world full of peaches my Johnny, don't ask for applesauce.
I had them for 4 years. Palette expander, 2 turbos, inner and outer wires on both top and bottom. Rubber bands for a while near the end. They hurt like a ***** for the first couple of months, but after about 6 months you'll hardly feel any pain. Now I've just got a permanent retainer on the lowers which is hardly noticeable.
Make sure you take care of your teeth while you have braces! Brush, floss, and mouthwash every day! Save yourself the trouble of avoidable fillings and root canals! The extra 2 minutes per day is so worth it!

This enlightening post brought to you courtesy of a serious overabundance of free time.
Don't be a *****, the only thing that hurts is eating with EXPANDERS. When you get expanders out and braces in they are fine, atleast you don't have the herbst appliance like me. The first day they weren't that soar. Seriously, grow some balls xD. They barely hurt, although I got mine at 13 and a half, I was and am pretty pain tolerant. (13 and a half was so long ago... since I'm turning 14 in Nov 2nd xD) [/drill sergeant][/sarcasm]

Successful troll is successful, then?
Yes, he was pretty successful. Mostly since this community is made of 12 year old kids who can't control themselves.
I had braces like 2-3 years ago. The first few weeks they do hurt... a lot. If you hit your teeth with a lollipop it's as if they were being crushed by an unimaginable force :tongue.gif:
As I said, they only hurt for the first few weeks. After that, you will barely even feel them, that is, until you get your monthly check-up, which makes the teeth hurt again, but it's only minimal.
i had braces for about 3 years, they raped my mouth in terms of cutting my check and the inside of my lips.
i never took any pain killers though, just man through it, its not that hard. its worth it in the end when you get them off. they only hurt after a little while when you get them on/ tightened...and when you try to eat.
try to rip things like sandwiches into little bits with your hand and chew that, thats what i did so i could actually eat.
The closest I ever had was a small, easily removable retainer. That was annoying enough. I'm thinking the only way I would've had braces would've been if I were in a coma and had no say whatsoever. :oP Well, that, and they would've had to be affordable back then for my parents to even consider.
2 1/2 years when I was still younger... I needed them though.
Too bad my wisdom teeth kinda sabotaged the whole effort in the end.
Not too bad though. still look MUCH better than when I was lil'.
Man up, b***h, and take it.
You'll be grateful in the end.

And like the baseless fabric of this vision, the cloud-capped towers, the gorgeous palaces, the solemn temples, the giant Screen itself, all of which we inherit shall dissolve. And, like an insubstantial pageant faded, leave not a byte behind.
Now I'm a sexy mawfukka.

Edit: Even water hurts mah teefs.
Edit #2: I have to chew things by squashing it with my tongue.
It hurts about as much as getting braces.
Like something separating/bringing together your teeth. Also sometimes something poking the back of your mouth.

Way to put someone down instead of showing some sympathy! You sure are wise in your ripe old age of... 14.
Show respect and it shall be shown to you.
