What's with you guys and your fetish for knowing things you don't have to/shouldn't know.
I mean honestly...
I could have lived happily my entire life without ever having seen certain things. And now they cannot be unseen. Stupid internet.
But I think that keeping me "safe" and preventing me from encountering disturbing images online is something that I have to do for myself. (and that parents have to do for their kids until they are responsible enough to use the internet on their own!) Letting someone else decide what is sanitized enough for me, an adult, to see, is just a short step from letting someone else decide what I should read, what I should think.
I am not too terribly worried though. Censoring the internet can only go so far.

Its the goddamn principal of it. Plus what if the block **** that shouldnt be blocked by accident, :S
And that principle is a loss of personal liberty where it doesn't matter what I find inappropriate but instead only matters what those in power deem inappropriate. That is not for someone else to decide.

Never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by incompetence.
So parents shouldn't exist?
Honestly, censoring the internet will not lead to a scenario of the likes of 1984 simply because of the fact that 20 years ago, no one cared about the interwebs.
I'm all for a more censored internet, because I see no reason for anyone's odd fascination with harrasment, gore, and rape.

The fact is if they do censor parts of it, it's only a beginning to censoring more and more. Of course, it's perfectly possible it stops at gore, rape etc but there's still a possibility that the government uses that power for their own profit.

Do not wallow do not stall
Time waits for none at all
Your allowance may crawl,
It may fly or even vanish
But none will seem more lavished
Than time lost to all.
You know you are in a dying empire when frivolous things like censoring the internet take greater precedent than stopping multi-trillion dollar wars.
I've lost faith in this species a long time ago...
...
And I like my internet just the way it is.
Violent and disturbing.
It keeps all the normal people at bay.
You're only numbers in the government's data.
You've just gotta stop worrying about what they're doing and focus on being happy and having fun :3

I don't want to not be able to look at things the government deems unnecessary! I like my extreme videos of things that make normal people cringe!

Yes, England is safe, by which I mean they're already censoring their internet, so you're safe from all the things you never get to see.

We aren't humans.
We're citizens.
We're voters.
We're customers.
We're prisoners.
We're numbers.
Exactly

And thus, the Internet.
