One died due to a heart attack during the quake,Two were seriously injured from falling glass and falling chimmey.
We knocked our one down last night.
Indeed.
it was at 4.25am, that is the lucky part. If it was during the day, especially on a Saturday where people are out and about, casualties would of been horrific.
I felt it in Wellington, woke me up, thought it was the big one hitting Wellington finally.
Your house alright bro? Few my mates got their place well trashed by it. kinda lucky they are renting.
Well, Kiwi Land is earthquake country so, it is to be expected. From what I've seen in the pictures... I am really surprised that no one died. Those un-reinforced brick/masonry buildings are usually quite deadly.

I think it was 4:35 when it happend and your right,More people would have died from this if it happend during the day.
EDIT:Thought of something...
Bugger, you seen much of the carnage yet? pics on Stuff showing all sorts of things.
I am absolutely surprised the airport didn't get massive cracks in the runway. How long was power out for you guys? Guess you're boiling water and going toilet in a bucket? :tongue.gif:
I've been in a smaller earthquake in Cali. I think it was like, 6 or something. I might be exaggerating the magnitude by a whole lot. It was the one that was the aftershock of the one in Mexico I think. Something like that.

EDIT:AFTERSHOCK **** YEAH! :biggrin.gif:
Tad worried, I think Wellington will meet it's maker in a few years or so (apparently overdue). Also saw that people in Bexley are being told to gtfo of their houses as they're to damaged to live in at the moment which is saddening.
Also heard there were some thoughts on Taupo.. If that thing goes off.... wooohhh. Party in N.Z.

You in the flooded areas? Man, must be some interesting movement of the ground and such around.. Kinda curious, love that stuff. Saw images of some kids sitting on the side of a giant crack in the road near the epicenter, also some of the fissures in farmland throughout the area.. Eeep, I wanna see them up close.
