In all honesty, i just thought of that as a half assed example...
Im just going to say that they may or may not think like us as its rather hard to come up with a different form of philosophy on how to asses situations without making absurd reactions that would not help for survival, like destroying what they loved.

One day, there will be someone who looks at my signature and wonders "who gives a damn?"
since we're talking made up crap, what if Iraq transformed into a giant walking robot and started walking towards Israel and it had big lasers and an axe and stuff, would Obama still want troops there then!? How about that?

Finally! Someone's talking some sense around here!

I'm American. I don't like my country, but it's 50 times better than many others. America has been good, but it has made mistakes as well. Don't keep flaming my homeland.
I wouldn't like communism. I'm a born-and-bred capitalist.
What amazes me is simply that there are so few SUPPORTING the OP.
America has made mistakes for the past ~60 years, but for nearly 200 before that we were the envy of so many people.
Immigration?
Why America still has a large population?
What the hell? The USA played a very small role in WWII, and had it joined the Axis, it would have been obliterated. First of all, all their trade with Canada (their biggest trade partner) and the other allies would have been cut off, starving them of resources. The US would have had no oil, cars, or any other vehicles. Also, are you forgetting the Soviet Union, which was pretty much the sole reason that Germany fell? To think that after taking out Germany they would not have finished off a last pest is absurd. And don't even try to say that America would have nuked other countries instead of Japan, because that is not true, either. America only got nukes because of the work of scientists who fled from Germany because of the Nazis. If the US had joined the Axis, then these scientists would have fled to other countries, such as England or Canada. Those countries would have been the ones to develop nuclear weapons, which would have then been used against America.
My god you know nothing of history do you? The US military dedicated 11 million servicemen to World War 2. That's 1/4 of all allied soldiers. Over half of all the vehicles in the war were American. America took more military casualties than Britain and we weren't even fighting for our soil. And as for Canada cutting off trade, we would have simply annexed them and taken the resources. They had only 1.1 million troops during WW2 compared to the U.S 17 million. And this nuclear business? Almost if not all the leading scientists in the Manhattan project had fled Germany to America up to 5 years before the war even began. And Russia wouldn't have been able to even fight the Germans out of the country if it weren't for us declaring war on Japan tying up most of there troops and all of their naval assets preventing them from invading Russia, which they most certainly would have done because they knew of Russia's massive resources.
D-Day was an unnecessary attack on Germany, whose only use was to grab as much land as possible, since it was evident that the Soviet Union was going to win. It is another display of American greed.
Greed for what? We held the land for about 6 months until the Germans surrendered then gave it all back to the respective countries. And dont try and say Berlin. We held less than a third of the city.
Thanks America, without you, we wouldn't be able to kill as many people as we do today! What a wonderful benefactor!
I noticed you completely ignored the medical advancements part he mentioned.
Holy ****. You mean to say that a tiny square of cloth on a dry rock orbiting around our planet would have a DIFFERENT PATTERN? GOD BLESS AMERICA FOR SAVING US FROM THAT THREAT.
The point he's making is about communism which I will speak on farther down.
And why were the Soviets in Afghanistan? To save them from the corrupt government, rebuild the country and create new buildings for the people, and eradicate the Taliban. The very Taliban that the United States created in order to fight back against the Soviet Union. And the very Taliban that now kills countless people every year and presents a threat to most large countries. God bless America.
Please tell me you are not ignorant enough to believe anything you just said. The Soviets went into Afghanistan to protect a brutal communist regime. When they found out that the leader of said regime might be speaking with Americans they had him killed and installed a leader friendlier to themselves. And I have know idea why you keep saying Taliban. The Taliban wasn't created until 1994, 5 years after the war ended. The Mujahideen were the insurgents fighting the communist government. And the U.S. didn't create them either. They had been fighting the government since at least 1978 before the Soviets even began to support the government.
Oh NO! Communism? That's always bad! A political system where everybody gets equal rights and everything is shared among everyone must be BAD. We NEED inequality, racism, sexism, and the such to bolster the economy, as well as homeless and starving people to lower populations!
Communism is possibly the most impractical political system ever. It is pretty much impossible to be executed properly by any human being. In the Soviet Union, which I get the impression you adore, 98% of the population had 2% of the wealth while 2% of the population (the government elite such as the politiburo) had 98% of the wealth. I may be wrong but that doesn't sound quite equal to me. Also unequal is when a man who goes to work, works diligently and to the best of his ability makes the exact same amount as someone who goes to work, punches their card, then goes and sits in the pub all day, getting drunk then returning to work to punch out, which was a common occurrence in the Soviet Union. And where in the world did you come up with that last sentence? That is honestly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Are you under the impression that America exists 160 years in the past?
Looks like you hated on the Soviet Union pretty bad.
Alabama students who meet state education standards: 82%
Alabama students who meet federal education standards: 18%
Conclusion: The Alabama education system is a joke.
First of all, you're basically teaching us of America's history, not why some people "hate" your country as of today.
I myself believe that Bush and his republican regime is mainly responsible of the opinions and emotions people connect to today's United States. Now I'm not trying to defend the US or the OP, but if you DO look at America's history, you can tell that only recently America has become synonymous with aggression and imperialism. Bush initialized both the Iraqi and the Afghan war and slowly turned into the most unpopular president, both in and outside of the United States, leading to the disrespect you see as of today's date. And I notice that, at least in my country and where I come from, Obama has managed to restore some of America's former respect.

I could go on, but the point is that we have a very long history of ****ing around with the politics of other countries. This behavior mostly started in the 1950's, replacing anti-American regimes with pro-American ones.
You forgot to tell us that these regimes were all communist ones, which I believe anyone with common sense would look upon as if not only bad, a threat to the modern society as they repress the human individual on several terms, like free press and the freedom of speech.
My god you know nothing of history do you? The US military dedicated 11 million servicemen to World War 2. That's 1/4 of all allied soldiers.
Hardly any of those soldiers were fighting against Germany to help free the Jews or take pressure off of the Soviet Union. They were fighting against Japan to get revenge on them because they attacked the US. They didn't seem to care much about the other countries, except Italy. This is evident by the fact that while about 3 percent of US servicemen died, about 25% of Soviet servicemen were killed.

America took more military casualties than Britain and we weren't even fighting for our soil.
Are you joking? About 580000 British soldiers died in WWII, while 414000 Americans died.

And as for Canada cutting off trade, we would have simply annexed them and taken the resources. They had only 1.1 million troops during WW2 compared to the U.S 17 million.
Because Canada wouldn't have resisted. At all. And because no other country in the world likes Canada. Not even England, to whom Canada belongs. Nope, nobody would have helped out Canada, and in fact, the Canadians would have just accepted their new American overlords.
Quote from Niker »
And this nuclear business? Almost if not all the leading scientists in the Manhattan project had fled Germany to America up to 5 years before the war even began.
And they would have stayed right put in America, now buddies with Nazi Germany. All those predominantly Jewish scientists would have been just fine in a country that was now allied with a Jew-hating government.

Japan was too busy attacking China to be able to attack Russia. Also, what resources? Have you ever seen a map of Russia? A giant, vast portion of land is mostly uninhabited, extremely cold and barren. Japan would have gained nothing from an attack like that, and probably have had many soldiers starve and freeze.

It was greedy in a way that America didn't want the Soviet Union to have that land. And it was still an unnecessary attack, certainly for the purpose of defeating Germany.

True, but many of these Mujahideen later went on to form the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Osama bin Laden was one of them. And they were, of course, greatly backed and armed by the USA, and it was with American arms that the Taliban and Al Qaeda were formed.

I do not worship the Soviet Union, and I don't think I gave off the impression that I did. I only refuted the points that OP made specifically against the Soviet Union. I also vigorously defended the Soviet Union's role in World War II because I, myself, am Russian, and I had relatives who died in that war. And it annoys the **** out of me when Americans (not all, but some uneducated ones) go around pretending that they did everything in the war and that Russia was an ally of Nazi Germany (yes, someone once said this to me), in effect downplaying the loss of my relatives.

I think you must mean that war the US had with mexico. The US took 55% of Mexican lands (Typically marked as 'annexed from mexico' in textbooks or maps detailing the US expansion.)
There is NO WAY you cannot call the US imperialist if it goes around doing things that are clearly imperialist.
