Someone was arrested for suspected high-school shooting because he told a stranger on the internet while gaming on xbox. So how did he find them?
"RCMP contacted Microsoft Law Enforcement Security and their investigators were able to identify the computer"
Looks like windows does have a backdoor.
"As the winter Olympics begin, the Department of Homeland Security has disclosed that it will be monitoring the comments and posts on websites and social media like Twitter for information on possible terror threats."
Scary stuff? Not yet.
Google is having a agreement with NSA “the alliance is being designed to allow the two organizations to share critical information without violating Google’s policies or laws that protect the privacy of Americans’ online communications.” You mean avoid all the privacy laws?
Why should they bother about you? Maybe if they want to silence you for something they didn't like. Anything they want, really.
What can you do about it?
Wear a tinfoil hat.

Because **** if the government can access public information.
Although I'm not familiar with the XBox privacy policy, privacy on an XBox and Windows are two entirely different things.
How much does the NSA know? Probably less than Google does.
You'd be surprised what you can tell from someone's favorited YouTube videos and Google searches.
Playing devil's advocate: Do you really care if someone reads your "OH **** GUY DIED AT OLYMPICS :(" twitter to try and discern potential terrorist attacks? Yes, yes, civil liberties, but when it comes down to saving lives, would you really pull the shutters on the government? For all I know, Taxi is a terrorist for having a guy with a gun in his avatar.
Well, I don't know about me being a terrorist, but they may find out I'm a sex offender/paedophile/nursery school teacher for my Google searches regarding Captain Picard.

Google knows a lot more than that, too. If you have an account with Google, they track what sites you visit regardless of whether or not you're logged in. They also know the content of every email you've sent or received through GMail.

God dammit I knew I shouldn't have done illegal things to that kitten on a secret webcam in my missile base in the UK so I could look back at memories while on Gmail while broadcasting it to my friends.

THIS IS HORRIBLE FOR SOME REASON.
Why do you need a backdoor when the front door is wide open?
