What shows, movies, games, books, or other media have you experienced recently that had an impact on you?
Mine is Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. I cried twice during the 27-episode series (to put this in perspective, I'm 22 and 6'7. I'm a pretty manly man).
Kamina was probably one of the most charismatic characters in the history of everything. I would follow that man into Hell itself without even flinching.
Well, considering FLCL and TTGL were both made by Gainax... Yeah. Haruko even has a look-alike character in TTGL in one scene. Also, there's a yellow hoverscooter.
And, yes. I have a man-crush on Kamina. I dare anyone not to like the guy.
Even a little bit.
Don't mind me, just being the saddest thing ever written.
Also, I felt I should elaborate.
MOTHER 3
... is about an innocent young boy who is forced to suffer through the end of the world at a young age. Don't worry, there's plenty of suicide, hallucinations of abuse, and abominations of nature to keep you held over until the end. Rated E for everyone.
Katamari Damacy.
The original, mind you, not the sequels.
The original, I think, has a much different atmosphere then any of the other games in the Katamari games. It's more refreshing to play after you haven't played it for a while, too. I really suggest playing this RIGHT NOW if you have this in your collection. And don't you dare substitute it with one of it's sequels.

We love katamari was fine, and we got to hear the King sing. Words can not describe the glory.

I cannot deny the glory, but this thread is supposed to be more about story. The story of Katamari Damacy goes something like this:
The King of All Cosmos got positively baked and destroyed all the stars.
So, has no-one here watched Grave of the Fireflies? Really?

It's not about to win any awards for that.
Perhaps he only meant the environment of the game was enough to invoke an emotional response. Maybe he sees some deep metaphorical meaning in upside-down iguanas spinning on circles of dancing babies wearing dead squids like fake noses.
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, The Unbeliever. By Stephen R. Donaldson.
Superficially it is a great fantasy series about a man from our world who gets pulled into another world. In this Land his white gold wedding ring becomes a source of unimaginable power. However you find that Donaldson has really made you think about alot of things.
-Even though Thomas Covenant believes the Land is a dream, would you still choose to do good over evil?
-Does having this power make it permissible to use it at a whim?
-Would you choose to destroy something to keep it out of the hands of another?
-Would you be willing to give this power over to another if that person thought he could use it better?
They are many other subjects he brings up. One of the ones that impressed me was this. Thousands of years in the past a race of warriors sent an army to the Land to conquer it. When they got there, instead of the people fighting them, they treated them as friends. These warriors were so impressed with the work these people and Lords accomplished they swore a vow to protect them. 500 of these warriors stayed becoming the Bloodguard. Because of what the Land is, the powers that lived in it changed these Bloodguard. They no longer needed to sleep, eat and they did not age. For 2,000 years they protected these lords. Then during a war they captured an item from the enemy that they felt they could use to kill the head bad guy themselves. So some of them went to attempt it. They were captured and made to turn against the lords and were subsequently killed by their fellow Bloodguard. This ended the 2,000 years of service because they realized that no matter how faithful, or how pure their intent or how strong their vow, it wasn't enough to stop them being corrupted. That swearing this vow in the first place lead them to believe they were more than that are. That because of the vow they could not survive as a people when it wasn't enough to keep them uncorruptable.
Anyways, long winded but still my favorite set of books ever. And thats saying a bit since I have over 6,500.

In my opinion, FLCL and TTGL are tied.

The ESRB only rates game released in North America.

That was a joke, but I love too many games and books to have a favorite.
Raise my dragons please!!

This made me love Vespa's, especially the yellow ones. If I ever buy a scooter, I must and will get one of these.
