Well I have a computer virus, it's not really doing anything right now because I was patient and let the virus go away (just like a flu).
So I got this virus from downloading a game, I wouldn't have got it unless Avast! scanned it, but it didn't. I just installed Avast because I switched from Norton (it blocks flash so I can't watch YouTube). Anyways, I need your help, the "symptoms" of this virus is just slow computer process, but I know it's a virus because it's called MultiFileDownloader. With the power of CCleaner, I unistalled it from my computer, but still little things are there.
1. When I go to Run, it doesn't open right away, I have to click it like 2-5 times.
--> 1 a) When I type in the Run field box, it types slow... before. But not anymore. (Nevermind, it types slow again.)
2. I cannot access My Computer or Control Panel because it shows a magnifier over a folder, then it freezes after.
3. I cannot open/install/extract files I download like SpyBot.exe or opening MineCraft.jar with WinRar.
4. Most icons from my desktop and documents are missing, but it takes a few minutes/seconds just to load all of them. Especially images or word documents.
5. I can't open Windows Live Messenger.
6. Computer slows down when I check in Task Manager.
7. The taskbar (explorer.exe) often freezes a lot, like when I open a .bat (minecraft hack client).
8. Virus scanners such as Malware Antimalware Bytes and HiJackThis freeze at 5 or 3 seconds of scanning.
*I was thinking there is a way to delete this virus by using the Run box.*
**Also what kind of virus is this?**
Don't mess with your registry unless you really know what you are doing. Go get a copy of HijackThis. Install and run it. Save the log file but do not click the Fix option yet. Post the log here. It will give you/us an idea of whats running on your computer that shouldn't be. If for some reason it won't install, reboot your computer in safe mode (by tapping the F8 from a cold start and select Safe Mode WITHOUT Networking) Click yes when it asks you if you want to run in safe mode. Once it comes up, then retry installing HijackThis.
You should probably try going into safe mode anyways before trying to run any of your antivirus or anti-malware stuff. Normally if a virus is preventing it from running, safe mode will let you do it anyways. I use both Avast and Malwarebytes Anti-malware. Malware Bytes finds alot of things Avast doesn't seem to catch, but I will admit, the loud vocal "A Virus has been detected" from Avast is pretty slick.
Sorry if my post sounds like I'm treating you like a noob, I've always found its better to explain step by step rather than assume. Some people get defensive and won't say if they didn't understand a certain step for fear of looking like a novice. I consider myself pretty good with this stuff, did it for 13 years in the Navy and 7 years since. You are on the right track though, by asking for help here, there are some pretty good people around that should be able to help you out.
**I forgot to ask. Do you know if the Windows account you are using has administrator rights?
Safe mode is such a crap invention. It really doesn't work, Safe mode can be setup to run additional programs with a registry edit - if I know that, virus programmers know it too.

Agreed but its best atm to try the simple, easy to do things first before rooting around in his registry looking for various keys.
Sounds to me like you have something running on your machine thats using 100% of your CPU, which would explain alot of your symptoms like icons taking forever to appear, programs acting like the are freezing after a few seconds. Odds are its not the virus doing this but something the virus damaged thats trying to start up and can't thus hogging all your system resources. Hopefully safe mode can keep that program from running long enough for you to poke around.
Try booting up normally and bringing up Task Manager again. On the processes tab is there something other than System Idle Process using 99% of memory?
Simple solution - Buy an external hard-drive with decent storage.
Use uBuntu Live CD and copy all your files onto the new hard-drive.
Format the computer.
Reinstall Windows.
Put your files back on the computer.
NEVER EVER TOUCH THE COMPUTER AGAIN YOU ARE BANISHED.

Right there, says to use it. . . Also have you tried reformatting your disk?

Once i had a computer that was horrible in normal mode, and was fine in safe mode, but of course AVG and Avast wouldn't run right in safe mode, and it's not like you can play games in safe mode, so it's pretty much useless.

The only time it's useful, is where you ****ed up and need to uninstall something conflicting or some other minor problem.

No one is really reading. >_>
-Edit-
Yes I'm admin of the comp.
Use uBuntu Live CD and copy all your files onto the new hard-drive.
Format the computer.
Reinstall Windows.
Put your files back on the computer.

I use Avira AntiVir, Google the name of the virus if you have it.
Also known as 'Rils'
No one told me how to GO in safe mode. >_>
Right there, says to use it. . . Also have you tried reformatting your disk?
