To simplify the situation, I am making a library of stories, of course I will be doing other stuffs which is lengthy to articulate.
So first would be document, but everytime you want to read a story, you have to find the folder and click it.
So second would be notepad, it does not look nice to read and unable to insert story cover image.
So third would be online free forum, the ratio of blank space to the text is too high because of theme design.
So fourth would be online free forum + theme, the websites boxes are all sharp or font looks weird or spoiler button is strange.
So fifth would be online free forum + theme similar to minecraft forum, unfortunately it is green and pixelised background, the text are all still bad.
So sixth would online free forum + messing with text code, this takes too much work, I have 30 stories and will even more later on.
So seventh would be a blogger, so far this looks the nicest, but there is no spoiler, what? Without spoilers, it is hard to skip through stories and navigate to the story you want to read.
So eight would be a blogger with fat website box, this gives more space for the text to be horizontal allowing more text, however the unnecessary blank spaces in stories are hard to control, the best way to skip through stories are still spoiler.
So ninth would be to make a website, unfortunately the top website builders are slow loading for some reason, perhaps they want you to buy the monthy.
So here I am, out of wits. If you are afraid of advertising and triggering the mods, please private message in this forum instead.
Interesting. Sounds like a mix of a writers cafe kind of thing (library of stories, reading, I can't remember if have a story image) or a some document type thing.
Mixed with of course parts of the MCForums.
Making a forum is a challenge. That and well good luck with a domain if seriously going for something like this.
You have put up a fair amount of things here that sound reasonable.
Do you know how to code HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript at all? If not then yeah website builders hmm.
I recommend joining a wiki and just making a post about something you may know about. I do this for mods or some games on Fandom or Miraheze and yeah the visual option is a fair start then the edit source option to see the code equivalent can be a step in that direction.
I mean a trip to w3schools or equivalent tutorial sources are worth a go if you do want to code.
Or a mix of a code/visual option. I mean wiki editing tools (besides sometimes just how awkward MCForums posts can be and showing the <p> or <br> or others at times (more so with copying and pasting my posts to the sub reddit I do when it comes to mod update threads I maintain (as mentioned in my signature)) make that sort of possible to get started.
They are not the exact same code they have their differences but it's a start. It's what I do so I remember what some of my HTML code is at times because of how particular I don't use it at the moment.
I learnt how to code and just put whatever in Notepad++ and then just open the files with any web browser. Website builders help but I don't know how good they are as I never needed to use one used to get used to wikis and learning how to code myself from study (apps that offer code or visual code click and drag options)/from tutorial sites.
Yeah, I have been sent to w3schools by other people, but my learning capability is probably limited, I still have it bookmarked still.
Website builders are laggy for me but probably because I did not paid a member.
My most often encountered problem is free but laggy website or website with limited functionalities like it do not have word paragraph spoiler, and in general, minecraft forum wording and presentation just looks clearer and easier to read for me, so why not just post on minecraft forum rather than forcing myself to read ugly word fonts, I had tried but wasn't able to replicate the minecraft word font, even helvetica might be available at some websites, it just looks different to me.
But there was one valid reason why I was so engaged in this writing hobby back then, you can build lots of houses in minecraft but whenever server reset, the houses goes *poofs*, but writing stories stays forever, and in fact, you can rewrite over and over again, creating a diverse world for your imagination to escape reality.
I know that some players either cash in or mingle with the minecraft server owners, so they can reclone their minecraft bases everytime the server resets, but when I run out of money, what happens then, also I am not that good of a socializer or political person (Someone else will always complain about how a fresh new world reset is better for all).
And I went on to build my own minecraft java realm, which died after 1 year recently. I am not sure why there aren't many players, perhaps lag, perhaps different time zone, but overall, I need to manage my expectations, and just play at the popular minecraft servers instead.
I maybe just misread which is fair. I'll check the link you posted thanks.
Yeah while I know more than a Hello world or if else (how to add media, tables and a few other things) I myself feel like I know just as much as that sometimes. At least with Java, with HTML/CSS/JavaScript I know enough but I still have the confidence of a hello world/if else. XD
Yeah sometimes certain sites only go so far with things how they explain it. Even doing study from schools yeah I barely remember some things and I just don't use them so unless I REALLY need to I just don't bother. I've never published a website only make sites for study purposes.
Yeah I bet the domains cost a fair bit. I don't disagree there by any means.
I myself had a writing period. I did word documents and I did Writerscafe (insert any other writing site here), I can't find my works but I vaguely remember the name I chose at least. Maybe I privated them. I'd have to log in and see if they are still there.
Laggy not sure. Technically it'd be down to the hardware I mean weak hardware or an old OS or older web browser version (or whatever compatibility cut off), but who knows maybe those sites are just particular how they function I don't know for sure having never used one.
I've heard stuff like that with Minecraft servers but don't completely understand them.
Managing expectations for sure.
I got on well with a server owner and a datapack creator. I haven't talked in a while but it wasn't bad terms just I got busy.

Not sure if we are talking about the same website builder definition, generally they limit the mb resources, so the more pictures, videos and etc you have, the laggier, so the trick is to just use all text in the website, which is a bit plain for my taste
And then there offer member tier 1, 2, 3, 4, as you might have expect they will give 1gb resources, advanced templates, access to shop buy and sell, the higher the tier, the functionality there is, but really, I am just writing stories, I am getting no money profit out of it, so it does not makes sense for me to buy all these website things

I gave up back then, buying a website domain probably needs money and I heard their prices increases over the years which is just sinister.
Also, I thought I know coding but apparently printf("Hello world") and if else doesn't counts.
So my stories are at the following link, but please do not bump it, I am tired of writing stories and is now just playing pc games like minecraft.

I checked again with the writers cafe,
and they actually teaches you how to publish your own book,
one of the method mentioned features a single hard copy book version publishing,
which is like a dream come true
Many other publishers needs you to buy hundreds of copies before they publishes it,
but I doubt any book publisher will allow printing pictures in between books,
or that it won't look as good as on hard copy book cover,
since I rarely see any such written books with images in between each chapters in library
