I have recently made a forum account as I have been reading several posts on the forums for about a year now which has been very helpful for me. I created this account so I can make posts of my own and help some people in their Minecraft Journey!
The second reason I have joined is as i have recently made new accounts for pretty much everything.
What I will post.
During my time on the forums I would like to create threads to do with my current world, versions I play, builds, etc..
I would really like to share my opinions on this game as I feel like I have got some decent opinions on updates of the game, mods and much more!
Further more It would be very appreciated if fellow players could leave feedback on my posts, as this will really help me see more thoroughly into others opinions on this great game.
"When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager."
look i'm not saying forums are dead in general. GBAtemp and the Macrumours forums are very active for example, but I think it's funny to see how fast people here give up.

I mean I was going to say liek "Wow! its so cool seeing other new people join these forums! Maybe people still put effort into this and it'll be just like I thought it would be if I had made an account here during its heyday!" but Bloxminexl's post made me check your page and yeah.... October 23rd of 2023 :/
guess I gotta set an example for new people who actually wanna use forums in this dark age of discord and twitter links.... I hope I don't end up as "last active on august 2024" hehehehhhhhhh...
This has always been a big problem; I even have numerous followers (that aren't obvious spam accounts) who were last active the same day they joined, some of whom never even posted anything, many others with just one post, or two:
Also, a lot of profiles look like this; they were last active relatively recently but haven't actually posted in years; this includes some more active users and looking at their posts shows no indication of why they would have just stopped posting (for example, BigAlanM was a big user in the "Seeds" section and they posted pretty regularly in the months up to suddenly quitting, while I still saw their name occasionally appear in the list of online users, until they left altogether a year ago. One of my followers posted over 2,300 times in the span of just 6 months before disappearing; they did show some indications of some issues with a moderator but would they really just completely quit over that?):

I... think (?) I stated something along these lines before, but either way, people "leave and don't say anything" for a lot of reasons. It might seem awkward, but at the same time, it doesn't. Most people won't find the need to announce a departure, especially if it happens gradually and because they're just losing interest. And I imagine that's often the case.
Another perhaps sad reality is some of the older members (as in real age and not join date) may not be as healthy for it anymore. Undoubtedly, many will have passed on even.
I joined a long time ago, and in that span of time I'm sure I've probably had periods of time where I was far less active, and I never announced it. I never needed to. I'd come, and I'd go.
The only exception was when I thought I'd be leaving for good due to a difference in opinion of how the discussion of the forums was being regulated. I really did leave. After a certain post, I simply logged out and never even looked back here. And I announced it not to announce a departure, but to express my displeasure at the strictness of regulating discussion. Since the rules are the rules and I was the one disagreeing with them and I realized that, I wasn't going to just continue breaking them, so I said my mind and left. It was only by sheer coincidence that I was starting to play the game again around the time of 1.16 and discovered a bug with UnMined, and since the website had no contact and just a link here, well... it brought me back here to report it. I didn't even expect an answer to my bug report since I expected most stuff was inactive but I got one, and fast, even with a fix. In the time I was waiting I looked around and ended up posting some and just ended up staying. Funny turn of events.
But normally, most people won't announce it. Especially if it happens because they're losing interest and just leaving "indefinitely" (meaning they may or may not post again one day), and especially when the forums are slower and less active now.
I don't even browse most sections as much as I used to (the strange ordering and the clutter from redundant and inactive sections doesn't help to be honest). I basically just check the top few Java Minecraft forums and, every once in a while, a few others. Back in the day, one particular forum I used to check regularly and don't now is the pictures section. I had a thread there showing my world, but that moved to updating it as I play in the survival section like everyone else does. The pictures section sadly doesn't get much activity anymore to warrant checking regularly. Even the updates forum doesn't. Forums just fell out of style (some live on). The current younger generation is on Reddit, Youtube, and Discord now, and more are doing so using phones. Forums are probably a cumbersome enigma to them.
Another thing that has struck me as quite odd is when somebody who wasn't active for years suddenly replies as if no time had passed, such as the following thread, where over 7 years passed, with several others cases that I recall seeing (somebody even accused them of necroposting, pointing out that the OP hadn't been active since 2017, yet they were the same person. I guess this shows that many people never really read threads, even ones as short as this one):
I'd say it's unusual more than odd. It doesn't happen often, but the part of posting and not mentioning that a time gap had occurred isn't that odd. I mean the conversation still flows well ignoring the times that they were posted. The other person being replied to is unlikely to see it, but that doesn't make replying to it useless.
I suppose they didn't see that reply way back then, and then came back for whatever reason and saw it and replied.
look i'm not saying forums are dead in general. GBAtemp and the Macrumours forums are very active for example, but I think it's funny to see how fast people here give up.
Absolutely true and lol - most of my other forums are way more active than this one. PersonalityCafe, OnlineSequencer, PlanetMinecraft, ChickenInvaders, and I guess DoomerBoards and LostMediaWiki but I rarely check these. I haven't been on forums in a while actually.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Sometimes an avatar makes whatever is written in a particular post more amusing or more fitting or whatever. This is one of those times, haha.
