heyo, so i just got some random message from a user on an anarchy pvp server saying they "doxxed" me and shouted my old ips in chat, and turns out they were false.
but now that i've had this experience, i really did wonder: is it possible, without ANY op or something like that, could you possibly get doxxed? and if so, in what chances and how do these happen? i don't want to know how to dox, so just dont explain me that. thanks!
doxxing all depends how much of an online presence you have and how linked your accounts are, all websites you goto can access your ip, as can all minecraft server owners and depending on the server their staff can see the ip too, sometimes a simple google of a username will gain alot of info.
if you use the same username on reddit as minecraft, other people on the server can look up your reddit, and if you posted something personal there like your name they can then look you up on facebook and so on
or if you own a website and registered it at your home address, alot of that is public information

The only way you can do that without OP is either getting the IPs from previous servers you were on that got their databases leaked, previous sites where you used the same username's databases being leaked or by using a badly codded P2P chat app like Skype. Even then as long as all they have is an IP, it's basically useless as the best they can do is say roughly in which state & country you're in and which internet provider you use, it's great to scare little kids, it's crap as an actual threat.
Only possible if there is a way to trace your personal information or to trick the individual into giving out their personal information after being a fake friend.
If you're careful and use an anonymous username, then no, doxxing will never happen on Minecraft.
If you're worried about your IP being discovered you can use a VPN before you log into a server, but make sure your VPN service is encrypting your connection thouroughly with a zero logs policy, that's important if you want to keep stalkers/trolls away from your home address information or even finding out your real name which you use for a social media account.

A zero log policy and encryption isn't needed unless an actual legal authority wants your info or you fear someone might have physically put something between your PC and router, for a minecraft stalker a random free proxy or even a free VPN does the job.

Not quite, a stalker could access people's WiFi if they are using a public wifi connection that isn't encrypted. Don't underestimate what information a stalker could access from you, they will try anything to know as much as they want to know about their victim. That's why privacy is very important and why we need laws and regulations protecting our right to privacy.
Using a public Wifi in the same facility as somebody else, it is possible that a stalker could find out what you look like and where you live. Unless you have 2 step verification on your email I'm afraid that is one way they can track you down.
