Forum seems slightly more active than it was when I last got on here a year or so ago
Hardly; there are often now less than 20 online users and barely any discussion at all; just look at my current Survival journal thread (or any of the very few others), or even the Survival Mode section in general (3 active threads in the past day, last post 18 hours ago), or General Discussion (2 active threads in the past day), et al, and there are less and less "regulars" and they are less and less active (in my case it is only because of a lack of discussion, and this just compounds the issue, to the point where many just quit because there is simply nothing to comment on). I fully expect it to close at any time.
Fact is, this has gotten me into a sort of depression over the inability to communicate with others online (there is Reddit but barely anything is interesting and there is almost no discussion unless you are exceedingly lucky and your post goes viral); for example, this person posted a screenshot of what they mined and got 700+ comments (I don't care about upvotes, just actual discussion); myself? Almost nothing for a far greater achievement, (they probably can't comprehend how much I've mined, as opposed to a single double chest, which I can mine in a few play sessions) and not like I've made many posts of what I've done, i.e. "oh, TMC made another post about how obsessed they are with caving"; the last one was 6 months earlier (again, the average viewer probably can't even comprehend what that shows). There's also a subreddit for old versions, whcih is far more interesting than the main subreddit but they technically only allow up to release 1.2.5, and a subreddit dedicated to versions like 1.6.4 is all but dead) and is one reason why I've been playing more than ever this year - over 50 days of playtime so far.
Not to mention worries over people ripping off my mod I've spent over 8 years on (see this thread; if they ever try to make it public I'll definitely make sure it is taken down; I'm sure the greatest fear of any modder or creator is that any "fork" of their work would absolutely crush the original in popularity, and a version which supports multiplayer, is compatible with/includes other mods, uses modern OpenGL (not that I have any issues with performance but using OpenGL from 20 years ago has many major issues on newer drivers, example, and I'm surprised that still support it at all 14 years after it was deprecated), and has shaders and all that certainly would; TMCW is so little-known that Google literally only has a single page of relevant results for it or even just my name. I've even "tried" making it as hard as possible to decompile (they just see a bunch of gobbledygook instead of item/block/biomes since instead of using "block.blockID" I use named constants which are replaced with simple numbers at compile time (I actually did this to avoid having to access objects when possible, the idea being that it is faster, while using named constants enables IDs to just as easily be changed, of course, only in the original source); and you have to delete like 100 vanilla classes to get MCP to recompile, else you get a bunch of errors due to missing/incompatible methods).
At least some others have acknowledges the root of the problem (I'd think that Minecraft mod development/discussion was utterly dead based on the activity on these forums, or what I can find elsewhere online):
This also explains why I've always disliked using private messages, especially if somebody needs help/wants information; just put it out in the open where anybody can easily find it, rather than potentially having to repeat myself the next time somebody has the same question (likewise, if I posted my mod or Survival journals on Discord how would anybody ever find them? You still need to post the link/invite somewhere).
This is what the forums should be like (15 new posts in the last 2 minutes as of posting; and yes, they used to be that active; even the "Most users online: 34,329" you see in the forum stats doesn't go back to the true golden days, with over 100,000 active at once according to a moderator (I can't find the post but they said it was in 2012, before a software/site upgrade):
Also, I've always wondered why so many people just suddenly disappear; no goodbyes (there is a thread for that but it is just as dead as anything else), just nothing, with some being pretty active up to their final day (yes, it is possible that they were banned or a major real-life event occurred but it happens way to much for those to be a major cause).
I'm aware the site is less active than ever. And it does make me a little sad. There was a time in 2016-2017 where I was on this site every day, browsing content and chatting about whatever in the most cringeworthy ways I could have (my old dms make me wanna delete my account and personally email everyone on this site saying thank you for dealing with my poorly-adjusted teen self)
It is kinda sad to see the site diminish in popularity over the years. And I guess I contributed to that as well, by not staying active. But that was never meant to happen, to just leave once and for all. Work, college, and now music school gets crazy. I suppose it's the way the cookie crumbles. Nothing can last forever. I think it may be related to changing demographics in the game playerbase, as well as the forums not being marketed as much. Not to mention the whole twitch merge where a lot of people left, as well as the rise of Discord.
You wanna setup a general modding thread? People could talk about their mod's progress. Or about technical stuff.
I noticed that you deleted your own modding thread; I've always been interested in such mods like my own and it even inspired me (original post) to make my own improvements to bat AI (the real issue isn't their bounding box, which incidentally made them sink into the ceiling if set to 0.5 unless another bit of code was changed, and only affected the position of the top of their bounding box, but the fact they don't check if the blocks in their path are safe, I fixed this by checking for liquids and fire, changing their course if possible, and trying not to set their destination to such a block in the first place).

Yeah, I wanted to look at the vanilla BiomeBase.java; And long-story-short, I ran cleanup.sh in the wrong directory. So I only A few features right now. But I am working on it.
I will update the OP for what little progress I have.

Y'all should have been here before the end of 2011 when it was all still on phpBB. You were forced to review your post if someone else posted before you had, which just led to endlessly trying to send your post through while everyone was online in one thread.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Once this was my favourite place in the whole world.
I believe it's been closer to a decade than not since my last post here, last login even.
Somewhere along the line, I lost my account in some transition.
Oh the cringe, oh the immaturity. Starting here at sixteen and returning not all that far from double that age.
Like walking through an abandoned building of one's childhood.
For how lame it is, this place represented a large part of my later teens and very early adulthood. The relationships that spawned from here, the one's that taught me how much I still needed to grow. That I will always value for teaching me how not to be. Looking into the scrying pool of one's past, I was happier, less cynical but otherwise a worse person than I am today.
I excommunicated everyone here, so I'm not going to tell you who I am, or maybe better said 'who I was'.
I could honestly be here all day, but it makes me a little ill to think about to an extent, lmao.
It's always been a little weird for me here, being virtually the only person from the 2011 TDC forum offshoot that also kept up with the newer group on here, too. There's so, SO much lore there that will never see the light of day.
Well that's rather unproductive. If I change the subject, I can only keep it for so long before it gets buried in another subject. So I'd need to make a topic for anything I intend to discuss more than once anyway.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
You okay bro?

What's the matter?
Time for the near yearly check up apparently. I thought I posted a few months ago but it's apparently been 11 months.
Oops.
That 1 month is crying for being forsaken lol.
