Oh, my... I see that a lot of you guys are showering once a day, but why??? Isn't that too much? I am showering in this way since I was born, and it seems to be very normal and healthy. Now I see why we will run out of potable water...
Ahh yes, because once you shower, the water suddenly disappears, never to be seen or utilized again...
The wide variety of answers end up being a cultural indicator more often than not. Ive been to African countries where it is rare to waste water for a full on shower, especially in a way that is normal for Westerners. But it works for them. Even after a week or two they didn't stink, but rather had a pleasant earthy smell. Me, on the other hand, reeked like a musky taun-taun in a rainforest, wrapped in gym socks.
While in Middle Eastern countries, they didn't bath as regularly due to water being too valuable to merely pour over their bodies on a daily, or sometimes even weekly basis. I'd work with local nationals and they'd think we were crazy, and crazy rich, to be so wasteful with our water. They'd wait to come to work and use our restroom sinks to give themselves bird baths and take as many water bottles as they could sneak under their clothes, home. They stunk, even the dirt there stunk, and everything could have benefitted from more showers, but due to the value of potable water, it wasn't feasible.
So if you can bathe once a week and not smell like dirty butthole, or develop rashes everywhere two pieces of skin rub together, good for you. Otherwise it's more of a cultural thing and available resources available that dictates (or allows) more frequent and comprehensive hygiene practices.
TL:DR - Get over it, the world isn't going to suddenly run out of water due to excessive showering.
