So. I got out of school a while ago and now it's summer. I've been getting some random depression. I actually found out that the depression comes from being out of school and not having so much work to do. Does this happen to anyone else?? It really is not bad depression, just some boredom, sadness etc. I tend to be an optimist, so I know to look forward to the good aspects of summer. Just curious if anyone else gets this out of school blues.
More likely than not it's from not having as much contact with other people. What helps me is finding ways to get together with your friends, and semi-frequently too.
I see, we're two different people I guess. If it's education specifically, try watching something from Khan Academy, or if it's work, volunteer if you're too young to work. Most libraries and animal shelters always need teenagers during the summer.
This actually happened to me this week. Knowing I'm on vacation and won't have to do work, it feels uncomfortable since you are used to doing it. Either that, or your aware the summer would soon be over.
Wow. The over abundance of work always made me depressed, not the lack of. Spending countless nights without sleep trying to understand a concept that I would never even have to apply to my own life once I was done with it, eventually giving up on it all together so I could attempt to get at least some sleep at night, which only turned up being 3 hours at best.
Anyways, you can always try occupying yourself with a good book, work on some crafts, partake in some volunteer work, learn how to cook... There's a huge list of things you can do to open your mind to new experiences, you just have to look for them - even in your own home there is a lot of work to be done. See this as more of an opportunity to learn things you wouldn't usually learn in school.
am the opposite of you, i start to get sad in august because school starts up in a months time and i wish i could just re-wind the clock and start summer vacation again.

i think we should all use common sense and logic when we answer and ask a question but always stay open minded
just cause science fails to explain something does not mean its real (afterlife, big foot, ghosts etc..) does not mean its fake try to stay opened mined instead of closed

Hehe that was me when I was in school. I was ecstatic at the beginning of June and despondent at the end of August

Actually, it's the lack of work or just the feel of not being in school and getting educated that gets to me

Yeah. I actually have like a 2 week road trip coming up and a backpacking trip, so I guess I have no reason to complain

You have every reason to complain; depression is awful.
