This is ridiculously off topic, but I'm in the market for an airsoft gun. I'm a beginner and I'm looking for a fully auto 400 FPS minimum rifle. Here are my requirements:
-Full auto
-Price around $120, although I can splurge a bit. I wanna save money for addons.
-I would prefer and electric gun (AEG)
-Large magazine capacity, although I know I can easily and cheaply upgrade this, so this is a slack requirement
-This may sound weird, but I want it to look boss. Like a frickin AK or something
Optional things that I would like, but I can easily buy:
-A green/red laser
-A green/red dot sight, maybe a scope, but I think scopes are weird for full auto rifles
-A flashlight
-Some targets or something
-A strap to hang it around your neck.
Thanks guys. This is so random, but I figured I'd try xD I didn't feel like making an account on another forum.
OK, I've been playing airsoft for a few years now and would love to help you out with this. I can recommend the G&G Combat Machine M4, it's a fairly generic gun but it's extremely good. I've had mine for five years now, it has never failed me. I've used it in Buffalo winters and Buffalo summers, and it holds up great and shoots as accurate as any gun I own. It is a full auto AEG that can support hicap magazines up to ~450 rounds. It might not be an AK, but appearance really doesn't matter in the game.
A general rule of thumb, an AEG under $130 is likely crap, and it will break within a couple months.
One thing though, I don't recommend going for a 400 fps rifle with your current budget. Any advertisements that claim "450 fps!" are false, they chrono their guns with .12g bb's, which should never be used in a quality gun. Also, high fps is not necessarily a good thing, it puts a lot of stress on your gearbox and you'll find yourself fixing your gun a lot more often than you'd like. Plus most guns in your price range are between 320 and 380 fps; the only high fps guns I know are DMRs, (snipers) and my RealSword. Forget the fps, this gun will be a perfect beginner rifle.
For your addons, I've found that lasers just don't work in airsoft games, since your shots won't land on target due to wind. If anything, they hurt your performance since you automatically aim for the laser, not judge based on wind. The flashlight, if you're playing at night is a must, but I'd go with an official airsoft flashlight that can shine at the ranges necessary.
Targets. You have enemies. No necessary. If you need to practice, grab some pop cans and shoot at them.
Strap. Totally necessary, if you have a heavy gun like me, it's super tiring to carry it all game. I'd definitely recommend getting a strap.
Personally, I'm only comfortable with buying guns from G&G or Real Sword, the Chinese manufactured guns like JG might seem great at the time, but once they break, you can't find replacement parts.
Once you play some games with the combat machine, then you can upgrade to a newer gun that you prefer, but for now I'd stick with this one to get a feel for it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Wow, thank you very much. That was very insightful actually, I didn't expect that much help! I thought the targets were stupid as well, I can just print some off or something xD I decided against the laser, as it seemed like it would just give me away in battles. I'm going to get a red dot sight instead. You see, I have a $200 budget, I just wanted extra money for some attachments. So maybe I could go a little higher on the price if there's anything better. I do have a few questions. Would you recommend the use of one of those smart-chargers? They're called for on Airsoft Megastore. I assume this wouldn't be any good either then? http://www.airsoftmegastore.com/1913-jg-airsoft-full-metal-gearbox-lr-16-ris-aeg-rifle.aspx
I really appreciate the help. I don't wanna get ripped off right as a beginner, then never wanna get into it xD Again, thanks

i played airsoft a few years back and like woofel said any airsoft gun that's not spring loaded under 130$ is not worth the price, i had (or have) a 110$ AEG that could shoot maybe 20 feet at most before the BB's would start to fall to the ground. next i would suggest go to your local cabelas (that's where i got my airsoft AK for 200$ works like a charm)
but i do have to say the lucid L47 (which a friend of mine has) is a great airsoft gun at the price of around 170$. but just my opinion on what your asking for.
full auto- yes you want a full auto gun i used to use a walmart 50$ special spring gun for any battles you may have you want that full auto.
price-bump up your price by at-least 40 or more dollars to get something worth your hard earned cash.
aeg- yes just yes.
looks-not sure where you live but i would suggest try getting a full metal one or painted plastic, i know here in Canada we don't have to have the orange tips
laser beam- ya i would go for one for there not bad.
red dot or scope- these will just hurt you more then anyone else, these don't work in the field there good for range but with airsoft range does not matter in fact range is really the best way to get out of the heat of a shoot out due to the fact i would not shoot at some that's more then 30 feet away with out just spamming it to keep them in cover.
strap- i don't use straps for the fact i hunt a lot with shotguns for birds and slings just don't work well but there nice to carry on your back to and from a battle, and to say some times there nice to throw your gun on your back and pull out the old trusty hand gun

Definitely buy a smart charger, the ones that come with guns will fry your battery since they don't automatically shut off when they're done. I haven't personally used the JG guns, but I have played with some friends that use them. They're still great guns, but once they break you basically have to buy a new gun, whereas the Taiwanese made guns have replacement parts that are relatively easy to find.
The next bracket up would be in the 300-350 range, which would be far better than any of these, but I'd make sure you get into the game before you make that commitment.

stick with what woofel suggested that looks like a decent gun for the money

That's exactly what I want to do! I just want a starter gun before I see if it's something I want to commit to. You're exactly right. It appears that there is a good selection of replacement parts to me http://www.primaairsoft.com/ujg-partsu_oid425870.htm But I could be wrong. Would you still recommend your gun over the guns that I picked out tho? Thanks.

It very well could have extra parts available, I've just always used G&G. The main issue I saw was that all of my friends that had Chinese manufactured guns had them break at the connections of different parts, and would often have to replace half the gun if one of the parts broke. For example, a pin inside of a JG AUG broke, an easy fix, but that pin essentially fell into and ruined his gearbox almost immediately. A part that could have costed pennies caused a major failure of his gun and rendered it useless. On the other hand, one of my guns has been broken in a bunch of different spots from heavy abuse, but it has never spread. Dropped it in a lake? Motor burned out, replace, good to go. Dropped it out of a tree and onto another log? Broken rail lock, pop off the old one and pop on the new.
It's a personal choice, but I always go with G&G because not only are parts readily available, you almost never need them since they're manufactured so well.

Ah, thank you. I think you've convinced me for G&G, however I may try to find a different gun than the one you suggested. I know what you said earlier about having a lower FPS, but I think I want something just a bit more than 340 FPS. I'm thinking like 380-400. So, if you have a suggestion. If I can't find anything, I'll probably go with the one you mentioned earlier.
Oh, and the gun you linked me to doesn't come with a battery or charger, so I would be adding to the cost with that... Not to mention it's out of stock of airsoft megastore xD
